Here is the bit I have a problem with
According to the organization's website, all parents are required to participate in the fundraising or pay the $100 amount.
HELL no. Unconstitutional AF. They had to go and get greedy about it and now I hope they do get shut down.

You want your kid to play in whatever sport the school doesn't pay for, you sell tickets. You don't want your kid to play sports, don't let them and don't sell tickets. No one is forcing you to do it. Fact is, many schools aren't funding sport teams anymore. (Hint: a football team is EXPENSIVE)

How is that unconstitutional? It's a raffle and a fundraiser. Nobody is forcing anyone to participate. I hope they raise 50 million dollars. Time for the people to stand up FOR guns instead of having fits every time they see a picture of one.

This raffle is for an elementary school. Little kids should not be involved in this.

They were doing that crap 30 years ago when I was in school and I went to some high ticket school districts, the property tax paid for some very nice buildings and programs.

Back then they made me go door to door selling stuff to strangers, thank God I never knocked on a bad guy's door. Same with Girl Scouts, door to door selling or "collecting for charity". Again, thank God I never knocked on the wrong door, I went to a lot of houses doing this stuff.

They had a catalog my dad could take to work, but he wouldn't because "I'm the boss and they would all feel like they had to buy something". I totally got that even then but I walked a lot of miles door to door.

I think asking the parents to donate a flat sum, or sell tickets, is much more fair. You put your kid in school the school will always have it's hand out. Always. The only way to avoid that is for your wife to quit her job and homeschool.

Its sleazy to find yourself a victim in everything.

How about this stop having tax payers paying for sports and make the players pay for it

Then you are both wrong. The article states it's the parents of the team players and those of cheerleaders that are told to do it. Not every parent with a student in the school.

Hence, my comment, if you don't like it, don't let your children play in those two sports. Problem gone!

^^^ This!^^^ New Richmond is not a public school. ONLY kids from Moscow, Laurel, New Richmond, Point Pleasant, Pierce Township, Monroe Township, and Lindale can go there. The school gets no state funding, and relies on property taxes and parent volunteers to function.

That about settles the reason they have a raffle.

Good for them

I still don't think that unconstitutional. They can't really be forced to do either. But they do have three choices and selling the tickets seems like the easy choice.
