What a great story! I hope you are writing a book. I always keep at a minimum the 5 C's with me. More if I'm going deeper into the wilderness (10'C's , food , extra water, etc.) knowledge is your best tool along with a strong will to survive.

WE HAD a county pathologist who had been around FOREVER who was one of the most twisted folks around. He did a majority of the violent deaths, which could be very gruesome.
AND
where they held the autopsies was also a teaching hospital so at any time during a post you could have new docs or nurses in training standing around.
He was BRUTAL, especially to the new nurses.
He would be slopping around in the organs doing his thing, very graphic and you could see some of them getting a little green,
Then
he would want to change gloves so he didn't contaminate other parts and you knew what was coming. He would go back inside the body, go "What the H is that?" pull out some weird looking thing and toss it into his mouth and then tell them something about the flavor meant something special to the medical situation. By then they were either passed out, going to the floor or rushing to throw up. Of course he had palmed some kind of candy thing, but he always got a huge kick out of seeing how many he could make flee.
