So I searched and realized there wasnt a thread dedicated to giving praise for the best handgun on the planet :D: I know there are some other fans out there of Glock so lets see some of those bad boys..

Here is my favorite Glock. Its a Gen3 G21 with Truglo TFO night sights, Lasermax guide rod, with a 3.5lb Scherer connector installed with Extended slide release. One of the sweetest shooting .45's Ive ever laid hands on. Its also my bedside gun.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Let's see some porn boys and girls!

I picked up a 19X a few weeks back and it is a fun gun.

I know many people freak out when they see it because "that 17 grip isn't good for conceal carry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Well I own several great conceal carry guns and so not EVERYTHING has to be a conceal carry purchase.

I bought this because I like Glock and to date I've only owned Gen 3's (plus some Larry Vickers editions that are sort of Gen 3.5) and thought it would be nice to have something without finger grooves but no mag well carve out but still get the claimed better accuracy barrel because it is a fact that my HK Vp9 is just mechanically more accurate than my Gen 3 Glock 17 and 19's and I shoot well enough especially at 25 yards to see the difference.

My initial impressions shooting it are:
Pros
+It handles nicely, the full grip is nice in the hand and the 19 length barrel is no less accurate than a 17 barrel for all practical purposes
+The sights aren't garbage like the normal plastic ones Glock throws on standard pistols
+The 19 round mags ran great, so good that I ordered a few more

Cons (but doesn't mean I'm not still happy with the gun)
-The upper slide is GOLD, yes GOLD! It is not at all or in any way FDE like the lower so I am going to have it Cerakoted black.
-The grip is a little slippery to be honest, I know I said it was a nice size (for a Glock which are all too big for most hands) but the texturing is a bit too understated so I am going to have some stippling done front and back
-The action is a standard Glock action so a little clean up is in order

Overall I recommend it, if you like Glocks and you have all your purpose driven guns bought then this is sort of a neat collector item (though will never be worth anything) given the army competition and its departure from normal Glock offerings.

I agree. I couldnt take the Gucci Golden Glock color. It looked like something Ivana Trump would carry.

More freakin Glocks than I can shake a stick at. There are more around here too.

Yes, you were. Of course, it does have the potential of stopping many 2 and 4 legged threats and perhaps even some motorized ones as well.

I attended the Crossroads of West / Small Arms Review show yesterday in Phoenix. Had the opportunity to fondle a G19X and a G45. I am convinced they are the same gun. Will do some reading later.

Also saw quite a few in designer colors including battle worn grey and that somewhat olive drab green color. Oh, and one with the red and black mottled slide as well.

I've owned several Glocks...19, 20, 21, 29, 34 and a 40. Have shot most of the other models...only have two left...a 19 with an extra 23 slide so it will run 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SOG and a 40 with an extra .357 SIG barrel.

I use the 40 with the 10mm barrel for a car gun with Underwood Xtreme Penetrator ammo.

Picked up my very fist Glock a few weeks back. Its a gen 3 G22 police trade in. Came with night sights that still glow fairly well and shoots really well. Overall I am happy with it and might be carrying it as my daily, still making up my mind on that.

I did however think the grip was to slippery so I decided to stipple it myself.

It's been quite a while since anyone posted about Glocks or usable mods for them. Here is a G17 gen 3 that I am using as a host for a Recovery Tactical 20\20 pistol brace with front magwell and optic rail. I have an inexpensive RDS mounted on the rail, an ETS 30 round mag in the magwell and an Alpha Wolf G17L (6 1\2") threaded barrel in the Glock. I just put it together 2 days ago, in the middle of a multi-day snowstorm, so no range report. I've had the 20\20 brace for a while and MEH, but with the addition of the optic rail it seems like it can be a very useful tool.

Thanks for sharing about the optic, I currently have the brace on a G19 and am running it with trijicon night sights. I have found that it is a little different to get a good sight picture but I like the additional stability that the brace can afford if I find a need for it.

Just picked up a Gen 5 17 MOS. Didn't really want an MOS, but that is what I could find and their price was $100 less then what I've seen them going for online. I wanted Gen 5 and the only other option was a Gen 3 17. Not my first Glock; I have a 21 (gen 3) and previously had a Gen 4 19.

The only downside is that when I got home I realized this was a "compliant" package, meaning the three mags were all 10 rounders. Luckily I have some G17 mags because that is what my Keltec Sub2k uses, but those are all 3rd party stuff. Works, but now I need to invest in at least some Glock mags.

Sounds like a good thread to find a Glock expert;
Not a Glock guy but considering a G21 in .45 Super. Seems the only mods I see mentioned are a fully supported barrel & a 24# recoil spring.
In the 1911 we use a heavier firing pin spring also. Is this not needed in a 21?
Glock seems to have many swappable parts. Are the 20 & 21 slides the same?
The 20 & 21 use the same lower. Do they use the same upper parts kit (minus bbl & recoil spring)? Or does the 10mm use a heavier firing pin spring?

I appreciate any help on this subject !

Missed this earlier.

The 10mm and .45's use most of the same parts between the two, upper and lower.

First, no you don't need a heavier striker spring because of the way the striker works. Unlike the 1911, as soon as the slide travels @3/8" rearward, the striker is held rearward by the trigger bar.

Slides between 20 and 21 are similar but not identical, the breechface cut in the .45 is larger, which is why you can put a 10mm conversion barrel in a 21/.45 but not the other way.
Technically you should swap out the extractor and ejector between models, but you don't always have to.

Saw this on the highroad. youtube video thinks glock timney trigger to be unsafe.
Not sure why the guy making the video didn't use the easiest way to prove there is an issue. Which would be to **** the weapon and then slam the grip against a surface. If it's not drop safe the striker would release. Seems he wants you to "think" there is a problem without there actually being one.

I picked up a G43X recently and it's currently the only Glock I own. Way back in the day I owned a G21 for a short spell but sold it as it didn't fit my hand. Nor have any other Glocks fit me until now.

I have to admit the ONLY reason I was attracted to the 43X was due to the aftermarket 15rd mags from Shield Arms. As a 10+1 I had zero interest in the pistol but getting 15+1 rds in the G43 form factor makes it an entirely different animal.

Had Glock dropped their idiotic plastic mags they would be raking in the dough with this pistol, as Shield Arms sells every $40 mag they can get made as fast as the shipments arrive.

I think some of my FTF issues are attributed to the inane plastic Glock mags. I do have a G43 that seems to be more forgiving no matter whose magazines I use. I'll attempt to get some Shield Arms mags again. My girlfriend with the Sig Sauer, the metal mags are definitely the way to go.

I'm not a Glock guy. In fact, for many years I hated them.

But there is one that is very interesting to me, the Glock 40 MOS. I like the idea of using it for exhibition shots and it would be a great open carry War side arm.

It is an insanely good deal for the level of quality and features. The ultimate all around 10mm package to date IMO. It has a 6" barrel to take advantage of 10 mil's potential, 15 rounds in a relatively slim grip, and it works. So simple. I think 1911 based 10mms tend to have excessive felt recoil in comparison and there is really no reason they should cost 3X to 4X as much as the Glock other than the fact that some people will pay.

#938 ·
Had a G20, Smith 1076 and a Delta Elite all at the same time.
Part of the reason why the 1911/10mm's have higher felt recoil is the thin grip surface area.
Simply changing the grip on the 1076 dropped the felt recoil by spreading the recoil out over a larger area. Also one reason why the Glock feels so much softer.

Changing the grip safety on the Colt also changed the felt recoil, a Pachmayr rubber coated model had a more open curve than the factory model, and the web of my hand wasn't pinched as much.

The cost difference is from the manufacturing style and materials costs.
The initial expense on the Glock, the molds, are high, but after that, the plastic itself is dirt cheap. And realistically after the first 100k, the molding fixtures are paid for and anything you make only costs what the plastic and metal inserts cost, pure profit.
Whereas the 1911 requires the same amount of metal, the same machine time and tooling through its entire production run.
That $300 receiver costs the same (or more) at serial number #200,000 as at #1.
Then add in the hand fitting for the 1911 as opposed to the assembling of the Glock.

Both are good, and each has its merits in different circumstances.

Anyone here done a 21 to 20 conversion? I have a Gen 4 20 and was thinking about doing it. I've read up on the subject and even right now it takes about $200 in parts, which is less then buying a 20. However, the extractor issue seems unclear. Some say you need to replace the extractor but others say you probably don't. The ones that say you need to replace the extractor don't say whether the new extractor will work for both calibers or if you will have to swap it out each time with the barrel, guide rod/spring, and mag.

I'm interested in 10mm but not enough to buy a dedicated gun for the caliber. Being able to swap my Glock 21 to that caliber would be a nicer way to go.
