Default I Got a Stupid Prepaid Debit Card as My Stimulus Payment

Advertise Here

Just returned from the post office and the bank, and I'm still ****ing ****ed Off. Been waiting for the US Treasury to cough up my $2400 stimulus check, so I could pay bills. The biggest bill is right back to the IRS for last yrs taxes.

So I get this letter from the Money Network Cardholders aka The US Treasury Dept, with a stupid prepayed Visa debit card in it, marked Economic Impact Payment Card. Call the number, enter a PIN of my choice, and yes its my $2400.

But there is a catch. My bank is not set up to handle a EIPCard. So I can not transfer the ballance into my checking account. Small town and the only place that will accept a EIPCard is the Walmart Financial Center.

This makes a lot of ****ing sense, I ended up pulling $2400 in cash (minus the $12 of fees), just so I could drive back to the bank and deposit the cash, then write another ****ing check back to the IRS.

Thanks a lot you dirty, rotten, sheepherding, bastards.

It's been known for a long while that the money would be deposited into whatever account your taxes went to/from. If you didnt do it electronic you were getting a check. If you wanted to get it electronic you had to contact them and set up your banking information.

Check would have worked fine. Cheaper and faster too.

It’s more likely to be spent that way. On a card, that is. It’s meant to be spent, now.
Not on bills, but C**** ******** ***T
Not for sitting in an account. I’m not saying that’s your intention.

There is no rhyme or reason for how this is working/not working. I’ve been on social security for a number of years so according to the IRS website I should have had a deposit by the beginning of May. I have friends and family in most income levels and every one of them has received a deposit or a check, except for us. The Get My Payment site does not work for us. It just says that our status is unavailable. I’ve given up.

We got our Donnie Dollar$ on a prepaid debit card on Tuesday. Wife activated it Tuesday night and we deposited it in our account on Wednesday at our small town bank. No problems.

I worked for the US Navy for 32 yrs, so now I get my federal pension direct deposited to that same bank.
I had assumed that my bank could transfer the ballance, just like the prior person did.

Time to rope me a bottle of tequila and ride boldly ride.

We are on SS and get no tax refunds as we have paid quarterly for 4 decades for taxes and roll over any over payment towards the coming year. My thinking was they give us electronic deposits for our SS so the IRS would coordinate with the SS and do the electronic deposit. So much for government interacting with each other.

No such luck and when we checked the payment site we didn't qualify either so I had nearly given up but the check came in about 6 days ago. Do we need it,,,,, no but we will find good use for it down the road.

You're NOT. The gov took out a mortgage, payable by you/me/us so they could send you $ today. Just a question how bad the terms will end up being.

I know we qualify as our income is way below the threshold. Even so weíre definitely not desperate as weíve been preparing for many years for an occasion such as this. Itís just annoying.

Yes, you are right. I think the national debt is out of control and as a nation we do not have the self discipline or the will that it will take to correct the problem so we might as well sit back and enjoy the ride.

Well, it could be worse.
You could be me: No Trump bux, and I still get to cut the wonderful folks at the blood sucking IRS a juicy check in a couple weeks... (not one day before I have to!!)

So, yeah, have a tug on that tequila for me while you're at it.

Actually, NO! We need to support a third party that will balance the budget and work to bring the national debt down.

Let me know when you find that party.
