Took the new pistol (Ruger mkiv) to the farm today. 500 rds brick of blazer ammo with out one malfunction. This gun is pretty good. Ruger doesnít locktite anything so the sights got loose and the grips were falling off at the end but Iím going to tear it down and lock it.

Not to bad, for a new gun. Looks stainless - I use RIG +P Stainless grease on my stainless guns.

Before I put a red dot on I did 100 yards with mine standing. I wasn’t to consistent but could hit the target (I believe it was a paper plate?) maybe half the time. Great little pistol.

I had the front sight on my ruger bull barrel loosen years ago. I put a drop of super glue under the sight and on the screw. It has held for over 30 years. the pistol is rather accurate. for years I shot ground squirrels out of the truck window while in the foothills. the more I shot it, the better it shot

Handgun "100 yard with iron sights". Takes a better shot with a better gun than any handguns I have.

I not above putting a red dot on a mk pistol. 😂 but I got this for the long sight radius

Get a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 Carbine and you will be pleasantly surprised.

My 7-1/2" Ruger is more accurate than my GI M1 carbine.

My New Service Colt .45 can also ring the 12-inch gong at 100 yards handily with ordinary factory loads.

Heck, even my 1914 Webley MkVI can stay on a silhouette at 100 yards with service loads.

Friends who are retired DEA and FBI Quantico firearms instructors do similarly with their 3-inch S&W Model 13s.

We are all retired in our 70s and shoot weekly to see who buys the rib-eyes!

100 yards with a service handgun, while not necessarily easy, is well within the capabilities of a decent shot.

When they gave me all the ammo I could shoot, and paid me by the hour to do it, I was ringing the steel at 100 and further, with everything down to 2" J frames.

Great fun. I still practice at long range with my handguns, and while I'm not ringing with every shot anymore, I am with most of them.

I used to shoot my S&W Mod.28 .357 mag at 100 yards and did pretty well with it (4 to 5 rds. in a gallon milk jug). My eyes were 30+ years younger and I practiced A LOT. I also STILL shoot my Ruger 22/45 with stock adjustable sight at a hundred at regular 6 inch balloons...hit them fairly consistently too.
