Question Whitetail, I agree!

Good looking deer, congrats!! I wish we had more whitetail deer over on this side of the state. They taste much better than mule deer in my opinion. There are some over here but they are mostly on private lands. A buddy of mine from Casper goes whitetail hunting in the Bighorns every year and he shares some meat with us, really tasty! Take care, Mike.
It used to be that the only deer we had in the Riverton area, was Mule Deer, but the Whitetails have been moving in and running the Muley's away. My daughter and SIL live just outside of Lander, and have at least a dozen or more Whitetail visit them daily to trim the grass for them, nice hu? They treat them like pets, and even their German Shepard's (3), disregard them.

I agree that the Whitetail do taste the best, but still I prefer Elk, and that was sure a beauty that you got there! I'm planning on applying for Area 99, this year, with fingers crossed that I get it

Mike, Riverton

Let's not pass judgement too fast or I'll make a comment about that I actually worked, earned and purchased my land - it wasn't given to me by staking a claim on it.

Most folks leave after a few years due to either the wind or the winter. Some leave because of their limited skill set. You need to do more than 1 type of job to make it here.

No you never suffered and struggled during the Frontier days great droughts and Indian Wars. You likely came in from California long passed the hard times.

Hey Kraig,
We must be close to each other - I'm down by Black Buttes south of Sundance.

Yes, I am in SW Wyoming near the Idaho Utah border. I rarely post on this forum. I spent some time in the Williston Basin back in the 1970s. I have some friends from Cody who live down here also.

I might as well report in. An 18-year-old Lander native here - I've been lurking the forum for a while but finally decided to create an account.

Checking in from the SE corner here. Married into Wyoming 21 years ago from Denver. Rural Minnesota before that.
