The middle class will be paying for more freebies than ever before for people who are not willing to pay their own way or take responsibility for themselves. The result would be drastically shrinking money in your wallet and happy lazy people everywhere.

Think France.

35 hour workweeks, but no jobs.

1/10th of the GDP within 2 years.

That's just the start.

Well he is a self described socialist.
Which is basically the Communist beginners kit.

You do the math.

I would wonder on this. We have had presidents before that were covert communist. Think Wilson and Roosevelt. This might be the first time one would actually proclaim it.

He would have a few stand against him. A lot would do the damnist to keep up with him and quite a few on his side. I really do see a lot of France and Greece.

Why not Norway or even Germany for that matter?

You don't like benefits? The fact of the matter is that with all of the automation, robotics, computerization, mass communications, off-shoring and economy of scale, there is nowhere NEAR the need for labor there once was. Shrinking the work week and allowing the wage-slave more vacation time would actually put more people to work. The less labor that remains in the modern age would need to be filled with more workers.

As it currently stands, you are either working 40+ hours/week or not working at all. It would make more sense for more people to be working 35 hours/week than for some of them to be 100% idle and unemployed. Probably the 30-32 hour work week is what we should be looking at, even 35 is excessive for people who value their pitifully short lives on this planet.

I know of an MIT study (http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/users/rauch/worktime/) that calculates we realistically only need to work about 11 hour/week for a 1950's lifestyle.

The other little tidbit you might want to be aware of is that the US is maybe the only nation that actually has a national directive mandating the 40 hour work week (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_time). Hasn't been reexamined in over half a century, and no politician has the cajones to do so. Apparently the average work week in the Netherlands is under 30 hours/week.

We're serfs, worked to the bone. Not allowed or expected to spend much time with family, raising our own children, vacation, etc. On the few trips I take, I see alot of Europeans and Japanese. Why? They get vacation time.

If you hate your life and spare time, and don't see the math (shorter work week = more positions to fill) I can't help you.

As for Sanders delivering it, no. It would take someone half his age, and a country of people who set their own agendas rather than gobbling up the propaganda the corporate media feeds them. Most Americans couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag, Stockholm Syndrome. If the man with the bag says it's good to be in a bag, the American isn't budging.

Corporate agendas: Benghazi, ISIS, Terraists, perpetual war, scandal, he said/she said.
MY agenda: shorter work week, more vacation time, better benefits.

You can have ISIS, I'll take a shorter work week.

LOL, Finally came out as a Socialist, did we?

Personally, I don't want to live a 50's lifestyle. I will work for a better lifestyle.

If you like it so much, why not emigrate to France?

I agree entirely, it doesn't make sense to have 90% of the people overworked
and 10% not work at all.

I think he talks a lot of sense and seems a nice guy. Therefore, he won't get into power.

Ok, point out how even one of his official positions will work. Then kindly show us historically where that has worked for more than a few decades.

We aren't even remotely sustainable right now, and you think they can spend more?

Don't forget, this country has not reduced it's Debt since 1957, long before Castro came into power.

Yes, as we sink further into economic, military, and world opinion ruin and further down the looney-ville road of social justice and climate change, each election to right the ship becomes much more important.

For all intensive purposes, you've had a declining middle class and standard of living for decades under both Republicans and Democrats alike. Obviously their formula isn't working.

He will cripple big businesses, confiscate wealth and redistribute everything to the non-contributors. That would make life hell for the 1% and the politically connected.

Wait, the 1% and politically connected decide who gets to be boss. OK, forget it, he is toast.
