I like to use a 100.00 bill, lit. Just kidding. 3 jet torch is preferred. Oh, and I found a great "value" smoke recently - New World by AJ Fernandez. About 5.50 a stick for a big toro. Cedar and mild pepper, reminds me of an Oliva V or La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amore.

I miss Canary Island cigars from the '70's. Some of the tastiest cigars I've ever had. The Partagas LE is the best non-Cuban I've had in years.

Do you ever have problems scorching it with the triple? I'm in the market for a new lighter.

The New Worlds sound legit and I'll be ordering a sampler soon...thanks for the heads up.

I have a triple flame Xicar and a few others as well. 2 things to be aware of almost all butane lighters - Use the Xicar (not Rossignol) fuel (much cleaner) and second, they do not like temps below 60 degrees.

No, I don't have a problem scorching cigars. just don't bury the end in the flame and you will be good.

And yes, the New World's are really good for the dough.

I have been on a big Drew Estate/Acid kick lately. My humidor is filled with Acid Opulence Number 3's. It is probably my favorite smoke right now.

Since we are resolving issues with Cuba, do ya think we get cigars from there again? That would be great!

Believe it or not, real Cubans are often disappointing. Most of the good seed was exported when the embargo came about. I've honestly found myself enjoying smokes from South American nations over Cubans. I hope the end of the embargo revitalizes the Cuban cigar industry. I do hope we see Cubans coming to the United States though.

I haven't had a cigar in years but when I did, it was usually a Camacho Triple Maduro. Good, rich, full cigar, that.

Ahh...glad to see this thread resurrected itself. First, there are some very good Cuban cigars out there, but Cohiba isn't one of them IMO. Bolivars are my personal favorite. There are some very good Montes out there as well. Best cigar I ever smoked was from a S.A. Habanos shop in Ottawa - they brought a roller up from Cuba who brought his own tobacco and rolled out pyramids right in the shop. Absolutely fantastic.

That being said, I see the Cuban government seeing the chance to make a lot of money, real fast, and pushing out a bunch of low quality cigars. Heck, they may even get tobacco from other countries and roll it in Cuba, just to say "Cuban cigar." If/when the embargo is lifted, I would be very dubious of Cuban smokes here in the US.

Most people don't realize that their is a hierarchy for which countries get the best picks of the cigar shipments. I'm not sure of the exact order of "who gets the best cigars", but it is something akin to Spain (and Canary Islands), Portugal, England, Canada, Switzerland, France, etc. The US will not be at the top of that list if/when we import. We will probably get the pick somewhere between Vietnam and Sierra Leone.

Has anybody tried the Ave Maria line? I'm thinking about ordering a few crusaders.

I've read good things but have yet to try one.

Any country that sells Cuban cigars will get its share of fakes. That's why I only get them at a Habanos S.A. store. No fakes there.

I've had great luck with this place. Located in the Canary Islands (Spain). They ship to the US, despite what they may say. I've only had one shipment ever seized, and I received the insured replacement before I got the postcard from Customs.
