I am sure there is a lot of variation on price, but I just paid $500 for a 30-30 Win/20 Ga, in near new condition.
Spent some time this morning cleaning the shipping grease out of the action.
Found some ammo, I will test it today and post results.

I have one in 22lr and .410 with side button selector. Can the side button selector be converted to a hammer selector?

Yes, my side button broke many years ago and the gunsmith I took it to fixed it with an installation of the hammer selector.

I have the 30-30/12 gauge. It was given to me by my father in law when I married his daughter. Great gun. Has put a lot of food on our table.

I'm still having coyote issues. Put three down in the last 3 weeks. I'm thinking of taking the savage out with cast projectiles and 3" large shot. coyotes come to call at dusk. The last one was just a silhouette when I hit it with the 22mag. It dropped then ran. The 30-30 firing a 150gr cast projectile at 15-1700 fps should knock over a coyote. It does wonders on ground squirrels

I have 2 30-30/20ga, a 357mag/20ga, a .223/20ga, and a Stevens .22-.410 that is the forerunner to the 24's. I love them all, but the .357 was my luckiest find.

I think these combo guns plus some inserts to maximize options for scavenged ammo make a great survival gun. The 30-30/20ga could take any prey in North America with a variety of ammo.

Keep.a watch on the auction sites, local gun stores, pawn shops, and gun shows. You will get lucky.
