I would just like to say that I used this thread to stock up on anti's at a great price.

It's really a comfortable feeling to know that I have them and did not have to go to my Doctor and try to explain what I was doing and why.

Thanks for the compilation of some really great information and sources.

I also found some good documentation on the InterWeb for their uses and dosage, hard copy printed them and bundled them with the med's for future uses when needed.

I used to be hugely interested in this aquaponics stuff but then I read Mike Oehler's book on greenhouses where he critices it, and instead suggest ppl keep a combination of growing vegetables and having RABBITS.

I never really liked the idea that the slightest mistake I make I can wake up to a tank full of dead fish. There's no hatchery when SHTF, you know.

Very interesting links, and my fish appreciate the wisdom.

On a different topic all together, I got to thinking about human medicine. I'm fairly experienced dealing w/trauma (EMT/Rescue/etc.), but Iím a little weak with disease recognition and tx. So, I ordered these two books from Amazon, and have been enjoying reading them. Highly recommended.

I have an order coming in within a few days. It says the shelf life is about 18 months.

amox, 500 mg.

My son who is based out of the homestead but rarely here due to work ended up in the emergency room Saturday with a severe ear infection. The prescription was amox 500 mg twice a day. Traveling as he does for work in sometimes hostile , ever changing environments is a good way to end up sick alot.

I suspect in a shtf situation and lotta folks buggin out or moving around what ever the case is these environmental changes will effect a lot of people. it would be helpful to have a remedy close @ hand.

Ya'all know you can get people antibiotics from AllDayChemist.com in the proper doses, etc., right?

Haven't checked on them for a year or two, but $60 used to get me two courses of about six or seven major antibiotics, an anti-fungal or three, and a diflucan.

The fish meds are the same stuff from the same factory. If they're cheaper, no downside to buying them instead.

Informational bump:

I developed an abscess in one of my teeth and have been taking the Aquatic Pharmacy Clindamycin since Saturday. My left side of my face was swollen and there was some pain when I started taking the antibiotics.

I went to my oral surgeon yesterday for a followup from some gum work (the abscess was in another area) and long story short the surgeon said the antiobiotics were working well and to continue to next Saturday. The facial swelling is all but gone and the pain is gone as well.

We have used the Aquatic Pharmacy antibiotics on our GSD's UTI with success, our sheltie's Lyme disease with success and now my abscess with success.

One of my cats came down sick and I thought he had a UTI so I took him to the dr and it was what I thought. Dr gave me some Amoxicillin to treat him with and I had a conversation with him over the fish antibiotics.

To my surprise he told me that if I had any to give it to my boy if this happens again.

Surprised the heck out of me. I expected him to tell me not to do that, blah, blah, blah.

My poor kitty is really having a bad problem and he doesn't feel so good, poor thing.

And another bump, like Mel said, see the beginning of the thread for great info.

Get your antibiotics before the laws shut this out and you know they will.
