Spent two days backpacking, hiking, fishing on and near the Pacific Crest Trail in California. Hiked 23 miles in 2 days. Took a detour to an old abandoned gold mine. There was a little bit of snow on the ground but the weather was great (except for some wind the first day). I even made friends with a duck while fishing. Came across a guy carrying an aluminum baseball bat while hiking. He said for protection. To each his own I guess.

Nice pic's. I wonder if it was registered bat? A Titanium one would be more tacticool. On the other hand a wood one could be kindling and "greener"

That's up near Mount Baden-Powell and Wrightwood. 'Bout 2 hour drive from where I live. Where were you fishing at?

Very Cool man. I spent 5 days on the Pacific NORTHWEST Trail in June. Best week of my life.

I've done most of the PCT within a couple hours drive of home. At one point it passes about ten miles north of me. It varies from scorching dry desert all the way up to the timber line. Lot of long steep grades. If I had more time I'd hike more of it.

I'll be on the PCT this weekend near the Silverwood lake area, scouting around for a section hike beginning at that spot in May.
I plan to fish at Silverwood on my way back. The trout bite is hot now.

Been to the Big Horn mine, a nice hike and the remnants of the mine really takes you back in time. I think it's from the mid 1800's.
Supposed to have gold still.

I was out there with a herd of boy scouts a few years ago. Nice country. Glad we are finally getting some rain, there might be some water still in it.
