Default Video - People Leaving Ebola Quarantine Zone

Advertise Here

Another Ebola outbreak in Africa this time in the Democratic Republic of the Congo DRC. A quarantine zone was set up, and three people left the zone.

Examples go all the way back to the middle ages of people fleeing cities. During outbreaks of the plague people would flee the cities. This enabled the disease to leave the cities and spread into the country side.

Not if, but when there is a disease outbreak in the United States, will a quarantine zone be effective?

History and modern examples say no.

Your last line covered it.
A fact known to Emergency Mannagers.

If you cannot remain on your own property for 30 days (which will most likely NOT be enough due to reoccurances.) You are a fool.

I can tell you that I wouldn't sit in a quarantine zone myself so I can't blame anyone else for breaking it either.

When I was in Africa, in Sierra Leone, the only thing the people there could agree on was that they didn't trust the UN or WHO, they trust them about as much as we....well about as much as we would trust the UN or WHO to enforce a quarantine here.

The UN and private charities treating ebola have outright refused to enforce quarantine because it could offend people and was oppressive and discriminatory for them to tell someone with ebola what they could not do.

African countries tend to take these things seriously and don't care if people's feelz are hurt and that's how it was stopped last time, but it's the western organizations 'treating' these people and helping them leave quarantine, not African governments. Once it's established in the west, those same western health organizations will be running the show top to bottom without opposition from a ****ed off African dictator.

It will be interesting. Air assets with FLIR and guns/rockets vs the majority of sheeple with little to no experience/gear for cross country night travel.

Depends on the vector.
All across South America and Africa where mosquitos, rats and other animals are the ones transmitting the disease, these are far easier to control in cities with fumigation, insecticides and other pest control methods.
In these places it may even be mandatory for you to get certain vaccines when going to areas where theres an epidemic, all while these diseases are just unheard of in the city. (think Chagas, Yellow fever)
Now if its humans the ones transmitting the disease, then sure, the more people you have the more likely you are to get infected. Interesting enough though the mortality rate tends to be greater outside the city, where people still get infected but have fewer access to the proper medical care during the emergency.
