Default SKS tactical gear

Its a shame that so much of the gear available for the SKS is so old. Ex. Chinese bandoleer vest: Amazon.com: Chinese Military Genuine Surplus SKS... cover
Amazon.com: Chinese Military Genuine Surplus SKS...
SKS Sling: Amazon.com: Chinese Military Genuine Surplus SKS... cover
Amazon.com: Chinese Military Genuine Surplus SKS...
In an attempt to find some newer gear I found this for a newer style bandoleer:
http://www.strikehardgear.com/sks-bandolier/

Clip molle pouches: http://www.strikehardgear.com/sks-clip-pouch/

And for you duck bill hi cap magazine guys: http://highspeedgearinc.com/proddetail.php?prod=HSG-DDT Of course rounds up.

I am still a stripper clip type of guy, nothing wrong with staying old school as Doc said in another thread, but somethings can be improved with time and technology.

I would really like to upgrade the sling and have thought about the standard M16 battle sling.

Any suggestions?

But seriously if you guys have seen any newer production gear for the SKS rifle please feel free to share here. Links much appreciated.

I also think its pertinent to mention that even though High cap mags have all but dried up, ten round stripper clips for the SKS/AK are still available for less then $2 a clip. Something to think about.

Midway just sold out of their stripper clips today, but Amazon still has a few of various brands.

There are some folks over at SKSBoards that are making custom mag pouches designed specifically for the duckbill mags.

Fmco makes a pouch that holds 120 rounds of ammo, on stripper clips. They make their pouches in the us, with molle and Alice backing.

Thinking hard on that duckbill mod. My gun is still stock with the exception of the one 20rnd mag that I bought right after getting the rifle in '94. I just could never come up with a suitable means for dealing with that monstrocity, much less more than one. So for the last 19 years Ive kept the box mag in for 'just in case' and saved the duckbill for those days of mindlessly blowing ammo. LOL It actually saved me some money having to reload the same mag every time. I ususally get tired of reloading 20 rounds at a time a lot sooner that cramming 10 down the rifle.

I agree with the FMCO gear. Have a PTR-91 vest and plan on getting a shotgun vest and perhaps some pouches.

They are not taking orders right now, and the place is for sale, so I'd get what I could come February.

You can get the SKS vest or MOLLE or ALICE 120 round stripper clip pouches. Also several other stripper clip pouches for other weapons that use them, like Springfields, M-14s, etc.

I just go with the chicom bandoleer and strippers. I look at the SKS as a "force multiplier" anyhow. It wouldn't be my main SHTF gun, but it is a nice spare. It's best to keep it simple and cheap and idiot-proof.

If I owned a rifle that used stripper clips, I would spend some time checking the function of those stripper clips.

You see, sometimes crappy stripper clips don't allow the rounds to slide off the clip into the magazine smoothly. The best functioning stripper clips seem to have quality control numbers/markings stamped on the back of them. The worst quality ones never seem to have a number or mark of any kind on them. You wouldn't want a loaded but non functional or poorly functional stripper clip anywhere near a self defense weapon that you might depend on to protect your family.
