I'm not good with the English, really I never got the whole punctuation thing, but it was very obvious to me when my youngest brought home his math homework that now they don't teach to a standard, nor to the teach to the student's potential. What they have done is bring in special ed tactics to teach to the worst student's potential. This is not the way to do things.

Probably because Canadians don't vilify their teachers, they respect them, so their children do the same and actually learn in the process.

To assume that messages written on a forum have any connection to a person's actual language skills is bad logic. It doesn't work that way.

However, if your observations are correct, it may mean that Canadians are more concerned with appearing to be smart, while Americans simply don't give a crap.

Because it's an internet forum and who cares?

Do Canadians think less of someone if they have an apostrophe in the wrong place on a message board or a text message? How sad!

IMHO, other than out east in Atlantic Canada, it's pretty hard to differentiate accents from London, ON over those of Saskatoon.
