While I do think this guy is destined for jail eventually - this is why it is important to store your "supplies" in multiple locations.

Aside from him voluntarily giving up his guns (which he likely will never see again) I would almost guarantee he has a stash somewhere else. If not, he is not too bright as there are MANY who wish to do him harm and now think he is unarmed.

And 106 rounds do not match up with three handguns, a Kel-Tec shotgun, and a AR-15

Yeah, & one article I saw included "chewing gum" listed in the inventory of items seized.
WTF . . .

Probably executed several hundred search warrants & never saw that before???????

Anyway, not to disagree with the OP, but the REAL lesson here, IMHO, is just how vunerable we as men are at ALL times ! ! !

All some female has to do is file a complaint & your legal ability to EVER own firearms or ammo may disappear forever ! ! !

False, or not doesn't really matter since SO many Jurisdictions churn out the Protection Orders on autopilot.

In most States, you have to meet the definition of a domestic partner, but jeeze, all that means is that you live together, or that you DID live together sometime in the past, or have a child together.

And most States have a clause in their law that states that all that is necessary for the Court to issue an Order of Protection Against Domestic Violence is that the "victim" is in fear, not that anything actually happened. SO you may not have had any contact for years, & get into a quarrel & if she lies, POOF . . . there go your guns.

Don't get me wrong, I grew up in an abusive home & I prosecuted Domestic Violence cases with such vigor that I was once invited to teach the members of the local Bar Association on the topic during their annual in-service training.

So I will NEVER support anything which aids Domestic Violence, I abhor it ! !

BUT . . . gun owners BEWARE, all it takes is one little spat with your lady & you may end up unable to legally own any firearms for the rest of your life ! !

Even if they're stored elsewhere, the moment you go touch one, you're subject to arrest & imprisonment if you get caught.

6471, I'm just curiouse if this firearms ban is often prosecuted and what the outcome of these cases generally are. I've done a little googling on the subject since the GZ arrest but not found much as far as actuall cases that pertain to DV gun ban prosecutions. Thanks.

Wish I still had that photo of the bumper sticker that said "No matter how hot she may be . . someone out there is sick of her **** !"

& the problem is, sometimes they seem sane enough starting off, it's only later that their bi-polar side comes out

Fraid I don't have any numbers on that, but I do know that everytime you fill out the paperwork to buy from your LGS, part of the background check includes if you've ever been served with an Order of Protection & lying about it on the paperwork is followed up on & prosecuted. Just as it will on your CCW permits.

Those Orders of Protection go onto the NCIC system, so if you get stopped or something even in another State, you can get popped for being in illegal possession of firearms OR ammo.

And I'm not saying that they SHOULDN'T be available nationwide . . stalkers & abusive spouses can & will certainly cross vast distances to harm someone & L.E. needs the documentation to assist legitimite victims, certainly.

I'm just saying that what happens in your personal life can result in your ability to legally own a firearm for the rest of your life, & I haven't been able to locate any such incidents overturned on the basis of the 2nd amendmant either.

Thanks. I understand your point about stalkers, but from what I've read on the subject this law seams to definately violate the 2nd. And it appears there's no way out of it as there is for many banned felons (also a 2A violation, imo).

It actually asks if you are currently under a restraining order or if you have ever been CONVICTED of domestic violence.

That's a huge difference.

Anyone can have a restraining order placed on them, but your rights are restored as soon as it's dropped unless you have been to court and convicted of an act of domestic violence.

Hey, if you have a solution or suggestion, I'm open to hear it. This is a topic on which a debate on is WAY over my head.

We know that there's PLENTY of women stalkers, but in all honestly, it's usually the guys who say "If I can't have you, nobody can", grab or go buy a gun & kill their "loved" one.

BUT . . . we support the 2nd amendmant & everyone's right to firearms remain un infringed.

So, I wonder if anyone here will grab that hot topic & go on record saying that these women's deaths are just the price we as a Nation must pay to keep our freedoms under the Constitution????????

Not me !

I don't have any answers for this issue.

I'm just trying to spread the word among law abiding gun owners that ANY domestic disagreement can escalate to them losing their guns forever (legally).

Thanks for the reminder. Normally, they're valid for one year, BUT they can be extended in many States.

In any event, that's still skating too close enough to edge for me to be comfortable with.

Yahoo and the other media outlets are all blasting that Zimmerman had 5 guns and all kinds of ammo ....

Everybody forget that the New Black Panther Party issued a Death Warrant on Zimmerman ...

if you had hundreds of thousands ready to notch their ghetto specials .... How many guns would you have?

Right after his acquittal I said he should change his name to Ben Ghazi so no one in the Obama administration would ever mention him again.
