I've got to say, all the evidence and data looks to me like he might be right. I follow the USGS earthquake map frequently, even have made up a few formulas that to me have been accurate....I was saying to watch out on 6/30 when my map went all to hell. It hasn't cleared. It's still high prob in my book. I'm seeing ne of Little Lake in an unhit up til now area or sw of Ridgecrest in another unhit up til now area. But it's up there enough for me that the first thing I do the past few days when waking up is click on the map. There's a spike of heavy activity off the lower left of the Ridgecrest area map that's slowly working its way to the San Andreas. That's a VERY scary area in my opinion. If it reaches the San Andreas, it'll be major news. The area ne of Little Lake, "the gap" has had over a thousand foreshocks in the past week. Hundreds a day. It looks pretty bad to me. I can see a 7+ there just any time.

Commenting to sub to the thread.

When I get back on my feet financially, will see what equipment I can find that measures seismic activity etc.

A plumb bob and some string. Paper on a chart recorder and a pen glued to the plumb bob.

Or a Raspberry Pi Shake.

There are earthquake apps for phones that measure shaking using the phones motion sensors. I had one on my previous phone. It was fair, however technology has improved as well as the programs available. I just had a look at "Myshake" which looks decent.

I'm sure there are, but phone apps are phone apps. They aren't replacing apps and equipment specialized for use, they are largely gimmicky, or for entertainment more than for real world application.

Not that there isn't a great app out there for this, I can't say until I look around.

But I meant actual equipment that would sit at home, not something that would compete with the data and battery life against everything else I do with my mobile device.

Just like i know i can record conversations with my phone, but i am still going to invest in a legit voice recorder, because the latter will do the job better in a number of ways.

Agreed. Doesn't replace professional hardware.
I used mine to record the kind of seismic noise the new locomotives made when they passed my house. The old trains never produced noticeable shaking.
