It's been said many times... mods, staff and admin have no control over such things.

Lots of trackers on this page as well. Ghostery is showing 20 of them, all currently blocked.

Its a real shame too. This site is the absolute worst for pop-up, pop-under, scrolling, floating, auto-launch video and all other forms of obnoxious advertising. It has always been horrible. This site is unusable without an ad-blocker and pop-up blocker.

It's because of this site that I installed ghostery. I couldn't stand all that stuff either and basically had to.

I'm glad I did though. It's made not just this site but many others far more usable. Not sure how I got by without it before.

There's almost always a way to turn a negative into a positive.

So thanks for the obnoxious ads survivalistboards!

That which does not kill your browser makes it stronger.

If you can set up your browser and blockers to defend against the adware on this site, you should be resistant to most anything.

These videos ads are getting way out of hand. I understand this site needs to generate ad revenue, and I certainly don't have any problem with that.

But 10 minute long video ads? That's ridiculous. I'm on very limited bandwidth - 250mb a day due to satellite internet and living in the middle of nowhere.

I thought you could click on that little X in the corner to close it, but that doesn't stop it from continuing to download the video.

Here's a picture of a 6 minute long one.

I've started to limit my time here because I don't want to spend the bandwidth.

You're gonna have to bite the bullet and install an ad-blocker. Several good ones have been mentioned in this thread. They all totally eliminate those horrible ads.

Here's the one I use.
https://www.ghostery.com/

It's free and extremely easy to install. If you're wary about it or need help installing it I'm sure folks here will help you.

I just installed it! Thanks!

I feel bad because I wanted to help support this site. I can't afford to give. I didn't mind with ad revenue, but this was beyond acceptable.

So now they don't get any ad revenue from me.

You'd almost think this was run by the government! (Complaint not directed towards the mods, who are awesome, but the owners who don't seem to understand how this works!).

I would also say that I am so sick of seeing that guy on the videos that if I ever saw him or his products in real life, he's created such a bad taste in my mouth that I'd want nothing to do with him or anything he's selling, even if it was really good.

Yeah I felt kinda guilty for the exact same reasons. But those ads left me no choice.

Glad you got it installed. I think you'll find that it'll improve all of the sites you surf and should help reduce your bandwidth use too. I know I was impressed with the improvement when I first installed it.
