Christians should be united in their view of global warming. But Im sure were not. A friend asked me recently on FB if I believed in it. My response was lengthy. So it turned into my latest blog post.

Ha, that was lengthy! Excellent blog though. It's refreshing to see someone apply their faith and values in a heartfelt meaningful way when discussing this issue.

In particular I enjoy your explanation on "dominion over the animals."
Just recently I've had to explain to my family my feelings on this. I feel that while I have the right to harvest the land and animals, dominion confers a responsibility over those animals and land as well.

I think my family thought I was being some kind of leftist but I'm not. I just want to be a good steward over the land and animals that I have control over.

Yes, when some groups elevate animals to our level, it confuses the matter. It’s like the environmental issues. Many in each left/right camp reach the same endpoint of stewardship, but from vastly different motivations.

The Earth is changing in accordance to the will of God. Humanity can postpone a bit the inevitable, but the fact that the Earth is smaller than our current needs is a fact that was designed as such by God. This is so that we get in desperate situation just before the End Days, or to be more exact, this is so in order to precipitate the End Days.

You say, "just before the End Days". Does this mean that you think it is happening soon? If so, how soon do you think?

It is unwise to put a number on it IMO .
Jesus pretty much made it clear ,not a time you expect .
But men in their infinite wisdom, defy Jesus teaching other wise .
A long time ago in the early 70s people were experiencing a similar atmosphere of tension in the world preaching the end then, and I did not buy into it because Jesus indicated not to.
Given books on the subject ,I tried to read them and the Holy Spirit shielded me for absorbing the counterfeit . And what He said was ,"I will teach you what you need to know when the time comes".
It is my concern that believers seek the tutelage of the Holy Spirit, rather than that of men. God designed it that way.
It is why Jesus left the Holy Spirit to teach in His place.
AS for mans responsibility to the earth , man in general has never been the caregiver God intended ,And I'm pretty sure God knew what was going to happen and that this earth has an end. Not to be careless with it , but man is careless with every thing he touches without God's instruction.
The scriptures speak of a new heaven and new earth.
A new heaven can mean a lot of things, like a pool table and every single ball is disturbed including earth.
Time is not an issue with God ,so just leave that out of the equation .
The spirit does not need oxygen though it can feel and experience emotion , communications are telepathic which also means there are no secrets ,subject of another study .
God's creative power is not limited, so things can be replaced or new altogether .
Personally I'd love to see something like the Avatar movie .
Point is this life is a staging area, a testing ground .
The stuff that's rebellious crap gets put in the composter ,
and the ones acknowledged by Jesus get put to use where needed.
Souls that honestly reverence God have preference . it's only reasonable.
I have seen God's creative power and intervention ,and have no doubt that the future for those that love Him have His full attention, no matter what happens to the earth .

For survivalists, denialism is worthless for obvious reasons.

I believe the global climate is changing as always and man has nothing to do with causing or preventing it.

Because survivalists assume a worst-case scenario.

There were ice ages (plural) in the past - something warmed up the planet and it wasn't dinosaurs driving SUV's.

There were mass extinctions in the past - again plural.

I think the cycles will continue until the sun goes red giant and consumes the planet.

The cycles will continue. Yes. This cycle will be listed as the man made cycle of extinction if a new intelligent species emerges. Their take will be OMG.

It can happen in the next 30 years or the next 200 years. These things take time. God has time. The climate will change, the population will increase, food will decrease and indeed certain products will disappear, cannibals will appear. It happened before but at a smaller scale.

"Then he asked her, "What's the matter?" She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we'll eat my son.' So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."

OP, dunno.

But things change. Some parts of the earth we live were underwater at one time. And the continents use to be connected as well.

velvet, great post. agree with you.

Christians can take comfort in
Quote:
Gen 8:22* While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.*
There will be "Global warming" but it wont happen until the time of great tribulation discussed in Revelation 6-18.
Quote:
Rev 16:8* And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.*
Rev 16:9* And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.*

It was the sun, with CO2 ppm maxing out at 300.

It's now past 400. And it's not caused by the sun, volcanic activity, cow fart, water vapor, or whatever reason deniers imagine.

Species extinctions are increasing, and it's caused by pollution.

Given that, survivalists prep. The mainstream lives with the comfort that the sun won't turn into a red giant for billions of years, so we should probably do fine.

There is more proof that the increase in CO2 is helping life overall more than hurting it. More CO2 more food and more plant growth with more food for all animals.

No one is denying climate changes cause some extinctions. I do not think one can say extinctions are increasing since all of written history accounts for so little time.
