I wonder if Trump is onboard with this... didn't he just fire Coats a few days ago?

"The letter, signed by outgoing Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, explained that intelligence officials had been internally debating the program’s relative value compared to its high costs and technical challenges. According to the Times, Coats argued that the program’s legal authority should be extended in the hope that technological advancements will make it more useful."

It's more about principle than practice.

Admittedly, I was duped into thinking that Trump was a "Tea Party" Conservative or, at the very least, sympathetic to that ideology to some degree. But when he surrounded himself with Swamp Frogs; banned bump stocks; called for more gun controls; bombed Syria; left our troops in Afghanistan; armed the Saudis; spent money like a ship full of drunken sailors; and called for "gay rights" worldwide ... I realized that he was about as far away from the Tea Party (politically and philosophically) as a RINO can get.

The fact that he's really done nothing to go after those who spied on him makes it easier to understand why he would want to use that same political weapon against American citizens. He did nothing because he really isn't opposed to it.

I know, I know ... his devout followers will jump all over anyone who dares to criticize him because "he doesn't really mean what he says" or "he was just saying it tongue-and-cheek" or "he's just trolling the Dems" or some other excuse.

Waiting for it ... waiting for it ...

Mine is equally as boring but the 4th Amendment says "Don't Look" because I still have a right to privacy. It's not only a Constitutional right but a God given right (other than the fact that God is the ultimate National Security Agent who knows all).

In the interest of fair play, I am sure they will also give us citizens unfettered access to their phone calls and emails. Especially since we pay their salaries. No?

`

Two things;

1. This is not shocking or really news, to me at least.

2. The feeling is mutual.

There was a case before the SCOTUS about the warrantless use of tracking devices on vehicles and when it got to SCOTUS, they were quite concerned about the implications . Can you imagine if we tracked SCOTUS around on their day to day interactions? Oh my....

The limp-wristers get the vapors
No, just fake indignation
Ask anyone with at least a par-golf I.Q.
"Do you think our government suveils its citizenry?"
Answer , "Yes"
"Mommy, make the bad men stop"
Grow a pair
This did not start with Trump and will not end with Trump
So just keep whining
I am more concerned with forestalling an Assult Weapons Ban

they have been tracking American Citizens for years. Relly got going in the North East with all the toll roads and they made it impossible to go thru without them knowing. Taking a Picture of every license plate. If you didn't get a tag it took more than twice as long and now they have eliminated that by taking away the toll takers. Now its either a Tag or By Mail and at least 2.5 more.
I drive down Highways and look up at a Pole has no light just a light housing so you know there is a camera in there.

It took a lot of balls for him to do that. To be honest, a lot of what he revealed had been leaked or hypothesized in many publications. So to the extent that the leaks somehow harmed national security is a specious argument. Those in the spy biz on both sides knew these things.

What he did was put an honest face to revealing of the practices. He brought the smoking gun and his own reputation to the forefront.

Long story short. If they (You) are someone they need to know about, they already know everything about you. Myself included! There is no hiding any longer! Patriots will rise!

Does anyone else find it ironic that people will get on the internet in a public forum and complain about a "lack of privacy"?

Very true.

Privacy is dead for most unless they live well off the grid in a shack exactly like Ted Kazinsky.

If you use a credit card, and use a smartphone, you have no cover at all. If you ever worked for the government, they have an entire dossier on you.
