Default Hungarian AK AMD

I see centerfire systems has the AK AMD on sale for 399.00 normally 599.00. I believe it is Hungarian parts. Just wondering if anyone has one or shot one and what the overall thought of quality. How they compare to the wasr's and if the stock can be changed to a standard fixed stock? Is this a mark up just to mark down and look good or is the AMD for 399.00 a steal?

The worse stock & fore-grip design of all, Quality is average for centerfire.
Short barrel and zero check weld, it's a neutered AK designed for Armored units with 20rnd mags.

Vertical fore-grips interfere with proper 30+ rounds mag insertion.

I'd rather have a wasr

I could probably live with the stock on one. I think the foregrip is butt ugly. If you buy it, it's your gun not mine.
Anyway, there are a few recent videos on youtube of people with them, and they seem to love them. I like to inspect my guns in person, but $400 does sound tempting. I could always use another AK.

Mine is a FEG with Tapco parts, I lapped the bolt and reciever to be a little smoother and I peened in the mag release. I added a small piece of rail for a light and a tritium front sight. I really like the gun for what it is intended for. . . up close and personal and it's great inside the vehicle. I wouldn't waste the money adding on it. Get something else if it don't fit you. I don't like the stock either but it works okay and it keeps the system light and compact. They are pretty loud to shoot and you lose some velocity from the short barrel. It does fine up to 100 yards. As a 50 yard gun, it's got good firepower, penetration and knockdown potential. 40 rd mags won't work with the foregrip and 30 rd mags barely clear it. I keep a twenty rounder in it.

best AK value going. I hope to pick up a 2nd one before prices go up. Centerfire is selling the FEG builds which are the more desirable. I own one that I bought from Jgsales a few years ago.

Brand new AK, lightest and handiest package you will find. It is accurate and the muzzle brake creates a great fireball, but is extremely effective making it soft shooting, accurate and easy to fire rapidly.

Need cheek weld? Go to amd65tech.com and order a riser. It was like 30 bucks when i ordered and gives you cheek weld. I also added their sling mount

And NO, the Foregrip does NOT interfere with mag changes. The foregrip is very comfortable and handy for weapon manipulations, stability, and shoulder transitions. I change 30 round mags just as easily on my other AK's. It doesnt even take considerable practice or any deviation from normal mag changes. 40 rounders may be a different case, but 30 rounders work just fine.

Every disadvantage to the rifle has a solution. You can mount optics on a Midwest Industries or Ultimak Rail, get checkweld with the AMD-65 riser.

Maybe I should let those who dont own them continue badmouthing them so that they will still be $399 when I get the money to buy another one.

This is what you want as long as you don't need any flash supression b/c the brake is welded on.

For $399 I'd go for it. Those things have been going up in price. Buy it and don't look back. Better quality than WASR.

I couldnt agree more. Everything you said is spot on. I have one and love it. May buy another one. At 399 its defiantly the best deal going.

I have one made by Century Arms with a Tapco trigger and I must have gotten a good build. I have never had any issue what so ever. Not one jam and will eat whatever ammo you put in it. You have to keep in mind what this gun is designed for, use in a tank (close quarters). This is the ideal gun for sweeping a house (you can collapse the stock down if you need to). I have added to the little pad of the stock it was uncomfortable before that. I also shaved down the back side of the front wooden grip to make room for some of the over sized Tapco synthetic mags, the surplus steel ones have no size issues. I also added a red dot sight and the cheek weld from AMD65tech.com. I would says it is reliably accurate out to 100 yards at least. If you are shooting beyond that get a different weapon. If you do not own one or have not shot one, it is the best close quarters weapons system for the $ you will find. 30 rounds of big bullets! I got mine from JG sales for $389 but have had a hard time finding them for that price since, BUY IT! you won't regret it. If you do I will buy it off you.

50% of that article is correct when talking about weapons limits, rest is a joke unless they are out of spec trash. A correctly built AMD65 is very reliable just limited in its role because a AMD65 is basically a over-sized krink with crap stock and vertical fore grip and allot of excess weight (vs krink).

No read article, only a small % came directly from Hungarian government, rest purchased in unknown condition from various arms dealers.

IMHO prob just Iraq cops crying about not having the new coolest toy.

I've had one for about 6 mos. A blast to shoot and accurate at 65yds. Original 11.25" chrome lined barrel FEG reciever with new or near new parts kit assembled in Hungry. Best bargin out there. They will dry up like all AKs as time goes on. I hav 8 AKS and it may be my favorite. Free shipping now!!
Get it straight Centerfire has nothing to do with the manufacture.

well i dont know, i suppose a few might be able to be some what effective with this during the day at close range but what about at night?
and
i find the short comings of the afgans experience with the AMD probably becuase they actually use this in combat putting their lives on the line as opposed to ''shooting this safe at the range'' to be compelling.
