I just got through having to settle for a consolidation prize of setting up my Remington 597 22LR with a lower rail to install a UTG adjustable bipod. I originally was planning on installing a rail system on my Saiga 7.62. I purchased the TAPCO ultimate rail system. The pkge came with this:

Two 5" rails
Two 3.5" rails
Two mini-side rails
All mounting tools necessary (see picture)
Rail is 1.40” center to center of the separate rail sections.

(Product disclosure)

I wanted to install one 5" on the bottom and the two 3.5" on the sides. I have a CAROLINA SAIGA 12 AR STYLE ALUMINUM FOREARM "VENTED HOLES" on it. I took the pkge out and right off the bat I noticed that there was not enough hardware for all the holes. It came with the hardware for the two mini rails, but only six sets to cover both the 5" and the 3.5". the 5's had three holes and the 3.5 two holes. Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't that come out to 10 holes. So why does it come with only 6 sets of screws and lucking nuts. I figured it was going to be plastic. I know.... it's Tapco, but the set up just did not feel like it was going to be solid. I said hell no. I am not drilling anything to put this POS on the forearm of my Saiga. Dam thing nearly cost me a hundred bucks. I decided to try it out on my 22lr and install one of the mini's. I even used lock tight. I slapped on the bipod and just like I thought......sloppy.....and would not stay in place with moderate maneuvering of the rifle or even when dis-engaging the legs. I mean it is workable I guess for squirrel hunting and some plinking, but I just wrapped up the rest of the rails and put them in my junk drawer where they belonged. No way was I going to put it on my saiga. What a waste. Thanks TAPCO. I swear never again. Anyone else buy this product and have a different impression?

I haven't bought any Tapco but that is the impression I get just looking at it. I don't have money to gamble with so I want to be sure things fit and perform as advertised.
The only Tapco I own are two 30 rnd mags that came with my AK, ironicaly they fit, while Bulgarian factory mags don't.

I used to spend a lot of money with Tapco. That was back when they dealt in a lot of surplus items.

Once they began branding their own products, I feel that quality took a nose dive.

Oh well...I just came up with something. I could just install them on the old stock hand guard in case I ever needed to go back to it. The current Aluminum one feels very solid and will likely last, but hey you never know.

I've had no problems with Tapco AK magazines, but have yet to use any of their other products.

I have two tapco 30 round mags too. I considered them just extra range mags. They work, but originally did not fit properly. I had to shave material off the back of the mag latch to make it fit. I would not use them in a SHTF unless I had no choice. I got a US palm magazine and it works great. I still had to shave off a bit, but the mag latch is metal and even with shaving some material there is still enough thickness on the mag latch to make me feel comfortable.

I gave up on Tapco when the G2 trigger I installed on my AK would randomly do 2-3 round bursts and cause the hammer to ride the bolt forward. Turned out the disconnector spring hole was drilled too deep.

They told me they would send me a shipping label so I could have it replaced, and they never did. Terrible customer service, terrible products.

I have had mixed results with their products. I had the Tapco Intrafuse Stock System on my SKS and it worked fine. The Tapco mag, I had, well not so much. It was the only mag I had that ever experienced problems. The rest were Pro-mag.

Yeah that was like six to ten years ago. Then when they went dealer only and no more Internet sales, they took a dump.

have had great results with Tapco stuff on my SKS. Havent tried any of their AR stuff yet. Also with the UTG stuff I have had good luck with most of their stuff. Had a few different red dots. Only had one problem out of them.

I have some Tapco AK mags and they work fine. No problems yet. I also have a UTG forend on my AMD-65 and it has proved solid as a rock. A little big and heavy but it serves its purpose well

My Tapco magazines fit and cycle fine(after a small amount of shaving, not enough to affect the structurally). Would I trust it to not fail if dropped on the ground several times? No. But for my use they are satisfactory.

And as far as UTG, I also have a UTG quad rail I picked up for less than 30 bucks on amazon. It is a rock solid quality mount. I can't vouch for their other products though.
