Huh. Suicide by cop? Failed attempt to count coup on an armed authority figure? Crazy came out? Hope the resource officer is OK, and hope the kid gets what they deserve, or need.

And no, I'm not calling this thing yet. For all we know, the resource officer was abusive, or the kid was high functioning autistic. Reserving judgment either way.

The article says they think the student had a handgun, but aren't sure.

How stupid are people these days?
You show me something, and within a second I will tell you if it is a gun or a pop tart, or a pencil.

Am I really that much more endowed mentally than these people?
I'm going to start a game show, called, "Gun? or not a gun?
I will hand the contestant something, could be a dried up dog turd, could be a shiny Colt 45, could be a slinky. The contestant will be given a minute to formulate an answer while tense music plays. Then they give the answer.
Then I hit them with a fresh dog turd if they guess wrong. I will tell them that was actually a million dollar check that just hit them, and they will leave happy.

Should be a hit.

You wouldn't have any liberals that would win a prize because everything to them would be a gun. And then you would be accused of collusion with the gun lover's

It's odd, it's like the 4th school shooting and one called off in 24 hours in Wisconsin.

It's not "people", it's "the media", and lawyers.

Unless the spokesperson that talked to the media talked directly with the resource officer (and they did NOT, the spokesperson is probably a desk jockey at the district level) no one can "truly" verify there was a gun; and thus no one has permission to specify that there WAS a gun, and they can only play the game of providing "information" that the "alleged" bad guy "may" have had a gun.

It's a lot like the impeachment thing..."witnesses" are all just third hand reports of what someone may have said that someone else could have felt...

So, the student had no gun.
They just said on the news that he stabbed the officer with a sharp object.

they didn't say knife. A sharp object. Unbelievably bad reporting.

Why do you think that?

"Oshkosh Police say an armed student confronted a school resource officer."

Sounds exactly correct?

But you are right...it's funny how they have edited the report now, to specify a knife (or an edged weapon) and stabbing were part of the story, no mention of a gun at all.

On the other hand, the OTHER shooting "may" have had a gun involved......"The shooting at Oshkosh West comes one day after an officer shot a 17-year-old student at Waukesha South High School. Officials had received reports that the student had a handgun"

But it doesn't say if there really WAS a gun....

Now governor Tony will want to ban guns, knives, sporks , staple guns, duct tape and snowballs.

I guess he would have to ban all "sharp objects"
That would include pencils and pens, thumbtacks, forks and knives in the cafeteria, pointy scissors, that little edge that cuts the scotch tape, those tear open lids on cans of fruit, ...

If a kid hits a baseball through a window, creating sharp shards of glass, just declare a WMD emergency and call in an artillery strike.
