According to the WSJ the number of confirmed cases has tripled:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/china-c...es-11579494221

And person-to-person transmission is confirmed:
https://news.yahoo.com/sars-virus-sp...015137885.html

And this just before the Chinese New Year celebration when millions of Chinese travel by crowded train across the country to visit relatives.

Airborne, Chinese new year, multiple cities/countries...not good indeed. It's likely beyond containment at this point, so best to keep a close eye on it. Until it hits the thousands/tens of thousands of cases, it's not time to send the balloon up yet.

All we can do is wait. Here's a good resource to track developments;

lolz," I hope they are screening people." (from the video above)

it is China... people can't even use their own phones without being screened.

hilarious...
They use temperature / thermal detectors. for flu etc.. checks on everyone.

thanks that was funny.

ok now back to this serious issue. I am staying tuned. will check in and see if the deathcount goes from to 3 to 30 in a week. this is still 3 months later hostpials stressed scenario. nothing I will be loosing sleep over for a few weeks atleast.

if it starts spreading in health care facilities it could become a WHO crisis... until then the common flu will kill more.

That said.... hilarious... " I hope the chinese screen people" "because of all those international flights...."

hilarious.

Case in Australia reported today too.

I would guess it is fairly easily transmitted based on the rapid rise of cases.

Just a matter of how sick it makes people. Any big increase in people coming down with serious respiratory illness and needing acute care like ventilators will overwhelm any health system pretty quickly and cause a whole pile of other issues.

I say again, Crap.

They just said 400 cases on the overnight CBS news.

At this rate, it will be over a thousand in a few days.

Massive exponential rise going on. I think it'll be worse in western countries. China doesn't give a **** about people's feels. They'll quarantine and isolate all day and night however they like. If they feel the need they'll just disappear people straight in to the incinerator. Western countries are even worse than they used to be about quarantine. We don't really isolate people anymore. Seriously. It's considered offensive and discriminatory. Policies have become even worse since Ebola. By the time it reaches a point where even a half-assed quarantine effort is made the patient will have already widely spread this type of disease.

Please forgive my use of Daily Mail. While yes they are a gossip rag I find their actual news to be accurate and more often than not ahead of other outlets.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...dly-virus.html

That said, it seems this virus has already been spread throughout China before it was even properly identified. Four million trips were registered out of Wuhan between Jan. 10 and the present. Authorities there have implemented measures attempting to prevent further spread. They however have not set a travel ban and expect 3.5 million passengers through their airport over the Lunar New Year as Wuhan airport is a major travel hub. Imperial College London projects 10 day incubation period so this bug may already be spread to far to control.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/a...th-victim.html

WHO says "limited" human to human transmission. I have no idea what that means two cases so far confirmed but they totally ignore the 15 healthcare works who certainly did not all trace back to the fish market.

I think from the histories of those who have died it is worst for people with other health conditions.

I;m not inclined to be too worried about it...yet.

Haha that's just my gut feeling could change at any time =)))
