Default Dust storms are coming

Advertise Here

During severe economic depressions:

- Farms get hit too.
- Crops left to die in fields
- Field not planted next season.
- No natural topsoil.
- Ground becomes dusty in dry season.
- Weather fronts turn this dust into dust storms.

Basically we are going to get severe dust storms next year, maybe even as early as this autumn. Way worse than the great depression dust bowl.

Prep for dust. Seal your home and keep stocking up on respirators and masks/goggles/glasses.

1) You can't know this. There is zero evidence to back up this assertion.
2) You may be wrong, we may have excessive flooding.

This happened one time in recent history -- the Dust Bowl in the 1930s. It was brought on by a severe drought and poor farming practices, not the collapse of financial markets.

Dust Bowl

Correlation does not mean causation.

Dont know about a dust-storm, but a ****-storm is on the horizon. Especially if the lockdowns, supply chains, and hospitals are still dealing with this during hurricane season. To say nothing of tornado, earthquake, and flooding as cujet mentioned.

Murphys law applies as usual.

I think we have evolved enough in farming techniques to ....blah,blah,blah. It's no use. Bring on the dust bowls.

Think I'll go start my car now and disconnect the positive and run on the negative all day. Wonder how far I'll get tomorrow

OK... Farming practices are to blame for the dust bowl.
The economic severity of the failed policies of FDR was coincedintcial to it.

As some have said, not causal.

All of which can be easily prevented with grass seed. I believe the USDA still has the pamplets showing how.

Since we are not in a drought, wind blown soil erosion can be stopped by planting a 40ft wide strip every 40 ac. My family owned a half sectiin of light soil (sandy-silt) that liked to blow. We sacraficed production of 10 ac by planting grass strips, but we stopped the soil errosion.

As others already mentioned, it was largely human-caused bad farming practices (alongside a few years of climate change). People recognized it, adapted, and it's never happened again. Only idiots would ignore similar warning signs today.

agricultural practices then were summed up by "put it under the plow" if it wasn't solid rock

the dust bowl was a hard learned lesson
windbreaks are mandatory in places they were considered a waste of fertile land and water.
no till planting is almost universally accepted and used.
conservation strips are encouraged and subsidized by the government usually on 15-20 year contracts.

we aren't there yet.

Ms Pelosi? Is that you? We are not buying what you are selling so please take the "world is going to hell in a 'dust bowl'" babble back to MSNBC.

Dust!?! WTF is that? It rains every few days here in MS. I am thankful but it wouldn't hurt for a little longer breaks in rain. For the last several years too.
