Even with special people ammo I'm meh without special people toys. Get the .45

BUT

it wasn't even a .45 let alone a .46.

I have seen a fair number of folks shot with .45acp. I have seen the effects.
never have I seen someone shot with the 5.7.

Just never felt it could be an improvement on what I had used for so long with such good effects as well as what I have seen from other incidents.

Let me know when they build it in a .46
.45 = 0.45.
5.7 = 5.7
It would take between 12 and 13 0.45's to get up to the numerically larger 5.7

The answer is easy. Simple math.

Now, if you are getting older, with joint discomfort, maybe that 5.7 is the ticket. Not sure why you aren't considering the Ruger 57

Not a fan of small bullets or special ammo.
I want a pistol that kills just fine with a big piece of cast lead.
I'm sure a 45 works just fine, but I bought a 10mm.

My biggest pro for the 5.7 is that in times like these it is more likely to be on the shelf. Plus, the magazine capacity.

Yes, I know the 45 makes a big hole.

Went to cabelas the other day to get a couple more boxes of ammo. I got lucky as the only pistol rounds they had in stock was 454 casull, 460 s&w magnum, and the one I was trying to find 500 S&W magnum. 5.7 was long picked clean and only the big boys still had boxes.

Is this a "serious" firearm or for play? If it's serious, buy a 9MM. If not, buy whatever the heck you want more.

The 5.7 is more than capable of seriously effing you up. Yet, at least to me, it is a niche caliber with little practical application whatsoever for my needs.

The ONLY time I saw one actually being carried was on Mountain Men. Rich, the lion chaser in Montana, carried one. And he fired it in one episode. Two or three rounds into the air to scare the lion off.

Come to think of it, I bet that 5.7 would be excellent for the mountain lions.
