Default Buying ar pistol avoids i1639?

I was thinking about getting at least a lower to beat i1639 taking effect july 1. Then i was wondering would an ar pistol avoid all the new regulations, except the locking requirement?

The 80% route is the way to go. They are not hard to complete with a decent jig. I'd be glad to give you more information. -K in SW WA
