For those of you unfamiliar with Bonhoeffer, he was a Lutheran pastor in Nazi Germany who strongly stood against the actions of Hitler's regime and was accused of participating in the assassination attempt on the life of Hitler that was portrayed in the movie Valkyrie.

"Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leave behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one's prejudgment simply need not be believed - in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical - and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self-satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous." ("On Stupidity" - Letters and Papers from Prison)

This brings to mind the left's blindness to facts - The Russian Collusion Delusion, the total rejection of the conclusions of the Mueller Report, and now the rejection of the actual text of the Trump/Ukraine transcript.

If Bonhoeffer is correct (and I believe he is), facts simply make no difference to a stupid person.
This is a very good example of projection ("Determined to ignore facts").

Why are you stating "rejection of the actual text of the Trump/Ukraine transcript" ? We haven't seen the transcript yet. We saw notes. Notes that said at the top that it was not a transcript. Your lead in post to this thread is unfortunately the "Fake News" you rant against.

After thinking on this I've come to believe stupidity is more dangerous than malice.

Simply because there are more stupid people than malicious people. However, stupid people when called out for their stupidity, resort to malice in a feeble attempt to deflect from their stupidity.

See example #21 above.

I'm not trying to throw a wrench into the discussion, but there is one more dangerous trait in addition to Stupidity, Malice, and Apathy. Let's not forget ignorance.

While stupidity is the inability to learn, ignorance is the refusal to learn.

Yup willful ignorance is among us.
There is also something I call "learned ignorance", kind of like "learned poverty". It is passed down from generation to generation

People are full of themselves. Always were, but it's gotten hectic in these modern times. Maybe sniffing too many of their own brain farts?

What ever became of contemplative people who value wisdom and seek "the Truth", whatever that may be and wherever it leads? You know, the ones who don't watch TV and don't have smart phones. And I'm not talking about the "Unabomber" or the like.

As a kid, I used to watch *lots* of TV (like 5-8 hours of it; hey, school was a piece-of-cake); but just don't have time for it now. I have and use a smartphone: ALL the time. It's a tool, like anything else. And like everything else, it can be misused and abused. Leading to imbalance.

More important than the *things* in one's life is whether you are a decent person, and have a core/center of good values. If one doesn't have those, it matters little, how much you learn/know, or how long you live.

I usually don't bother commenting on anything political, but this post is misleading. The "transcript" released actually looks like this

https://apps.npr.org/documents/docum...ine-Transcript

Since NPR was referenced in the previous post, I used it. The copy of the memorandum was two clicks away from the page the OP referenced. The page originally quoted is a cleaned up version that doesn't show the auxiliary stuff the memo had on it. The memo as issued clearly states that it is not a verbatim transcript of the call. Whichever side you're on, it's important to get the simple stuff right, IMHO.

From what I read, none of the transcripts for official phone calls are verbatim. Several people are tasked with listening to the calls. They get together afterword to iron out any discrepancies regarding what both parties said. There are usually translators involved and not everything said translates clearly. The president has no say on what goes into the transcript.

The official transcript is what most pundits are referring to. No matter how much they try to misinterpret it, it still does not say what CNN and MSNBC claim it says.

What no one is talking about is the $6 billion in taxpayer money that Obama and Biden gave to the Urkraine that simply vanished.

It would seem that corrupt and stupid go together. Home Defense is quite correct to point out that what is being swept under the rug is a very clear case of quid pro quo by Joe Biden. But, of course, if you're running for President then a clear violation of the law should not apply to you (according to the MSM). How dare President Trump actually address real corruption in an election year! Of course, the left will look the other way at Biden and his son's obviously corrupt relationships in Ukraine while pointing their collective fingers at the President for doing his job in fighting corruption in the swamp.

Good to know that if you're actually guilty of a felony that if you run for President, then you cannot be called on it. There might be a lot more Democrats running for President once this word gets out!

I pray that the malice and stupidity exhibited by the 'healthcare professionals' don't end up costing the life of an innocent child because the malicious 'professional' deems the child unworthy for some reason.

Malicious people cost the lives of countless innocent children. Children who bear no blame other than to exist. Snuffed out by the vicious vindictiveness of the avaricious whose personal vanity is more important than the life of a child.

Malice, avarice, and vanity. Sounds like the names of evil triplets, ya?
