lol right...and what will you do about the old, the sick, the disabled americans on food stamps? you forcing them to work too, nazi style? do you know how foodstamps actually works? do . you know you have to qualify and by qualify i mean pages and pages of documentation? do you know that yearly you have to re-qualify with more pages and pages of documentation to prove you are qualified to get the (for a single person) $192 dollars per month? yeah, that's living high on the hog on $2.06 per meal...no snacks.

there are other programs for the truely disabled and aged. i worked for years in various welfare programs. I even ran the local general relief program which required a work element. Most who didn't work work either too intoxicated or just plain lazy. After 30 years of working in social programs running from food stamps to disability, there is nothing you can tell me that I have not seen or experienced. the vast majority of people on welfare are just lazy. We can always find an exception, but they are rare.

Of course they vote. Most of the people I know who receive public assistance/ food stamps vote republican. I guess they think they're just temporarily embarrassed future millionaires.

So they're finally re-instating the asset test?

I thought it was crazy back during the Great Recession that my family (w/ grade school kids) qualified for ~ $700/month in SNAP benefits simply because my income ended, ignoring any savings (no, we didn't apply, though I bet many of my former co-workers did)

I don't. Why should you be treated differently because your pre-hard-time behavior was different from others? Plus it is none of the government's business what your assets are. Making you liquidate would hurt the overall economy.

When we got on it, they asked about any savings, even kids accounts. 2000 grand limit we had to close them out, put it into cash to get it. I bet that only apples to non brown, black people though.

In my case I had the only 500 buck civic in the lot. All the rest were nice newer SUVS. All the females had "custom nails". Very fashionable ghetto style clothes on the blacks. Non of the browns spoke English (still had nice suv) This was ten years ago.

Louisiana.

I had the same experience in Columbus Ohio volunteering nights at a food bank. Women in new Navigators already loaded with food from several other food banks. I would take a snap of thier license plate and of them, then send it out to our Director who would contact the other food banks and blackball them.

City fathers have begun to use their heads in some places. Let's just wait and see how things go. It also reduces the number of people using EBT and public aid cards as well in the long run too.

Sadly, the Twin Cities are putting up all sorts of large apartment complexes and tearing down houses (nice and otherwise). The City of Minneapolis calls it "increasing population density," as if that's a good thing. Low population density compared to other places is part of why Minneapolis-St. Paul have historically had low crime rates and good livability. Guess the plan is to get rid of that and create slums/more gangs/more crime (the downward spiral has already started). Plan 2040 is supposed to "improve racial equity." A read of the plan reveals it is set up to tear out all of the houses in nice areas and replace them with apartment complexes. At the same time, it doesn't do anything for the older, higher crime areas, regardless of who lives there It's utter bull****, and intended to take away people's freedom to do what they want in/on their own property (involuntarily, unneeded, annual rental housing inspections are a gross violation of 4th Amendment rights). Meanwhile, house prices are sky high because of the apartment building, no modestly priced houses being built, and house flippers and agencies buying starter/empty nester houses to give to *immigrants*/*refugees* or *fix* and resell at ever higher prices

Rant over (for now)

Those, who are truly disabled (and some that are scammers, fakers, know how to game the system, etc.) can and do qualify for various disability and assistance programs, including SSDI, general assistance, free/subsidized housing, free/subsidized transportation, free/reduced rate/subsidized utilities, medicaid, medicare, free phones, free Internet, free computers, etc. I understand that food stamps aren't that much, but when used in conjunction with food banks/pantries, free/reduced price school lunches, charitable organizations, etc., the people on them can do OK. The big thing is finding out what is available, from whom/where, and strategizing what to get from which available program/resource.

I know quite a bit about how food stamps/EBT/SNAP work. Some people actually use them as intended and make wise choices. Some waste them on junk food or don't budget and run out before the month runs out. Some trade them/use them at the liquor store, dope dealer, or pimp/prostitute for alcohol, illicit drugs, or commercial sex. Some flat out sell them. The going rate was $0.25 on the dollar. Middle guy(s) took another $0.50. The people buying them were paying $0.75 on the dollar, so getting 25% off their food bill due to food stamp fraud at taxpayer expense. Oh, and after the rule was changed so EBT cards can be used for $$$ at ATMs, the most frequently used place for EBT cash in Missouri was at the casinos.

Often, stop n robs keep them in a box under the counter and run them periodically for mythical legitimate purchases. The holder gets a cash payout just after the Feds fill it back up. If the permit holders have overseas connections to hide the money, they often use the underground “trust” network. To counteract this, allegedly our state department notifies the country of receipt that this list of citizens have xxxx amount, estimated. The army trucks pull up, seize the entire family, including infants, who are then tortured in front of thier parents to make them talk. Word gets around back home........or so I’ve heard. Domestic US embezzlers are sometimes sent to prison. Sometimes fined.
