Default Preparedness Expo in Central Illinois - input requested

Morning fellow Illinoisans ...

I'm in the process of putting together a preparedness expo that will take place late summer or early fall. I'm on the board of directors at my sportsmans club and the expo is something they used to do but no one wanted to take on the job of organizing the event last year so they didn't have it.

I'm bringing it back this year and I'm asking for thoughts and ideas on what type of material people might find useful. Now I'm guessing that the majority of the attendees will be people that are not hardcore preppers, probably more beginning preppers or casual preppers. I would like to change that and try to appeal to a wider audience without leaving anyone behind.

The expo is composed of a vendor section where companies that have products or services related to prepping can come and hock their wares and then we do a series of seminars and demonstrations.

So my question is what types of subjects would you guys like to hear about, I'm looking for thoughts on what subjects people would find the most interesting.

So far my initial list of topics includes the following

Preparedness mindset - what is prepping, why should we do it, what situations are the most common things to be prepared for, length and geographic impact of different events and how that affects how we prep and what we prep. Most important aspects of prepping, how to get started prepping different areas, food, water, etc. importance of community, prepping for non prepping family members and physical fitness and its importance to being prepared.

The above list is just a sampling of some of the topics that would be covered in one hour overview conversation about prepping.

Emergency/SHTF medicine - I'm a long time EMT so we would talk about what to do when medical services might not be available. What to keep stocked up at home, what to carry with you, most common things that will be faced in a grid down situation, where to get training what type of training to get, basics of first aid etc.

Food and water storage

Home defense

Building a community

Outdoor cooking - ie Dutch oven etc.

Bug out or bug in and building the right bug out and get home bag for your individual situation.

Communications and family emergency plan - communications will cover ham radio, gmrs options, cell phones or lack there of, making a plan with your family as to how to handle emergency situations that last from a few hours to days or weeks.

Those are just the kind of initial list of what I am thinking of in looking for ideas to ad, subtract, expand on some of the themes listed above and just general thoughts on what would be useful information.

Thanks

Michael

I just participated in our first prepper show. We took medical, tools/knives, body armor, LTS foods, suppressors, and shop made items. Sold out the first day of most everything. The show had classes from 30 min to 1 hour in length. They included suturing, down and dirty first aid, survival fishing ( yoyitofishing.com), CBRN, gardening, and others I don't remember. All classes were full both days.

Morning Jessie,

The Sportsmans club is located outside Clinton Illinois. Clinton sits in the middle between Champaign, Bloomington and Decatur about 30 miles from each. Always looking for help if your available would appreciate the hands or at least come out and visit the show it's shaping up to be a pretty good line up of presenters.

Thanks

Michael

Up north a bit from there but not opposed to driving at all. Dates, times and cost come into play(last semester of school so budgeting is at an all time high.) Never been to one though and really have no formal training other than my medical/health care training(respiratory) so interested.

Topic for food and water storage.

Pre-hurricane WaterBobs are a $25 water storage option, post hurricane WaterBobs are a $250 item only available on ebay. Supply and demand sucks for the unprepared. Gouging laws only apply to necessities of life which basically are food, water, shelter and fuel.
