Oklahoma changed AR15 mag size that can be used to hunt deer

A friend told me that Oklahoma changed the mag size that can be carried in AR15 from 7 rounds to 30 rounds this year, I thought it sounded nuts so I called the local game warden to confirm this myself and sure enough you can now carry a fully loaded 30 mag to hunt deer now. this seems crazy to me, I see some new hunter or someone that doesn't care shooting multiple deer and not thinking that of how many they can tag or not worrying about it until they get caught. this is a bad regulation on the states part in MHO.
what do you think

I think you are falling for the leftist and Fudd rhetoric.

Someone that doesn’t care will shoot what he wants regardless of the magazine capacity, or even the law.

New hunters tend to be pretty serious about doing it right, in my experience.

You SERIOUSLY think that someone who bought tags and went to all the effort to legally go hunting will be so out of control due to nothing but the mag capacity, that he’ll start blasting deer willy nilly without tagging anything, or he’ll keep shooting after he tags something?

This sort of irrational thinking is why we end up with stupid laws against suppressors or even bearing arms in the first place.

I have carried my AR15 deer hunting and all I have ever needed was my 5 round mag and five extra rounds just in case I screwed up and didn't hit my deer the same way I do when I carry my bolt or lever guns. i can see a 30 round mag if hunting yotes or hogs but not deer.
and yes 30 round mags have their place in your AR bag of tools.

So those who think it is a bad idea; you're in support then of some form of gun control?

heck I hunted for years with a single shot rifle. 2 deer at the most is all I want to gut and cut up in one day trust me. I could load that single shot about as fast as you could work a bolt.

I once was very broke and hungry and shot 3 deer with a muzzleloader in less than 10 minutes. bang, stuff stuff cap, bang stuff stuff cap bang stuff stuff cap.

Oh Horse****! It has always been this way here in Louisiana and we have had zero issues like the ones you seem to be worried about.

If people worried more about themselves and less about other people a lot of these "perceived" issues would never amount to anything at all.:thumb:

p.s. I do most of my deer hunting with a single shot .22 Hornet but, as a "free" American, I should be able to carry a 100 round magazine if I want too.

I think it is a Great Idea and long overdue if one does not like it move to NY STATE OR COMMIEFORNIA your bootlicking Messiah Governer Cumqaut preached from the pulpit of Communism " you don't need 30 rounds to kill a deer" what he failed to mention was that REAL Americans might actually need 30 rd Magazines in the future in order to prevent American Communist masquerading has Democratic Socialist from destroying our Constitutional Republic. I have been hunting this week everyday with my MINI-14 , 5 rd mag loaded with 64 grn power points in the rifle and a 20 rd Mag in butt stock pouch loaded with 15 rds 64 grn Power Point , just in case some feral hogs show up. Even with a 5 rd mag I have never needed to shoot more than once on a deer ever. JMHO and S/FI!

and then this (I know it has nothing to do with mag size) happens

the spokesman made quite a point of being semi auto and difficulty properly operating that difficult to operate safety. you know the one that was designed to be used by some guy with a 7th grade education wearing artic mittens.

how did dumbass (apologies if he's a relative, but you got to admit ...)shoot himself in the thigh and abdomen?

Either that guy is a complete guntard, or he's lying to try & keep people from using AR's to hunt. He said "Hunting with an AR-Rifle is more complicated. There's a lot more moving parts. It does have a safety that is very easy to use. You have to flip a lever. It points towards fire when it's off of safety and safe when its on safety." I'd like to know what he thinks is so complicated, especially compared to other guns. Clearly the military always goes with the most complicated weapon it can find to be its standard battle rifle. :taped:

I don't know much about guns or hunting, but I think an AR15 is WAY too powerful to be hunting deer with and you shouldn't be doing it anyway. I don't care how good you are, that is an ASSAULT RIFLE and is made for one thing only - killing school kids.

I agree you should be allowed to hunt deer, BUT your deer hunting should be done with rifle with a bolt thingy and a wooden part that goes in your shoulder, because those are made for hunting, which is what the 2nd Amendment about, and no CLIPS should be allowed. EVER! I can't believe you're allowed to hunt with CLIPS!

I'm now going to contact the OK legislators and demand they put more control over how you hunt.

So, having more than 7 bullets in a magazine is going to turn otherwise responsible hunters into trigger happy poachers blasting away at every deer they see, hear or think they see or hear, just like arming an otherwise good school teacher or college student turns them into spree killers? I'm guessing it must be so, cause I hear it on the MSM so often & as they say "the science is settled". :xeye:

Yep, just because it holds 30 doesn't mean you "must" put 30 in it.
