A lot of California refineries are over 100 years old. While refurbished and upgraded on a yearly basis they are also run very hard and over capacity.

First gas prices are a function of state taxes then distance for delivery from wholesalers then staton tank capacity.

This is the time of year when "winter gas" is usually sold and delivered to pump stations. Winter gas is less expensive than summer gas.... so the price increase is even more impactful, when it should have slightly decreased.

4.14 last week and rising here in California. Not sure if it is true but was told the governor took the last gas tax and spent it on the high speed rail. Only California would build a rail with no head or tail and through an area where people don't use the train.
