That place is so hot that the robots die just trying to get a peek at the missing core, the tanks of contaminated water continue to stack up (besides what 'leaks' into the ocean every day), and they have still not come up with a way to empty the fuel storage pools above the mess which is another accident waiting to happen as badly damaged as that building is and you say it is somehow less significant?

Right...
And that's going to affect anyone off-site... how exactly? On second thought, if you want to argue about it, don't derail this thread. Start a new thread or bump one of the existing Fukushima doom threads. I'd be more than happy to swing in and address your concerns.

You will be surprised, but I have similar concerns about the United States.

All America makes now is sharks with laser beams. No doomsday weapons. No nuclear torpedos, nuclear powered nuclear missiles. Just some planes and the aforementioned sharks with laser beams.

Yeah, tell the Russians that. Maybe put a pic of a shirtless Vlad Putin on the back of the shark, with an AK that shoots pointed diamonds, and a young nubile girl hanging around his neck like from the Conan movie. Yeah, tell them that.

Meanwhile in White Sands.........

So if it is ONLY a local concern as you claim - Why would South Korea file a complaint with the International Atomic Energy Association over Japanese plans to start dumping that highly contaminated water into the ocean?

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-...ve-water-ocean

So far they have 1.12 million tons of it stored and they are running out of space to store more fast. (yes that was TONS and not gallons and yes more of that same waste is being produced every single day nonstop and will continue to be produced every single day nonstop for the forseeable future)

The Fukushima accident is like the Energizer Bunny compared to anything the Russians have ever had. It keeps going and going and going. Yet most of our media is silent.

Mercury in the fish we like to eat is a big problem in the United States and increasingly around the world. Mercury itself is a naturally occurring element that is present throughout the environment and in plants and animals. But human industrial activity (such as coal-fired electricity generation, smelting and the incineration of waste) ratchets up the amount of airborne mercury which eventually finds its way into lakes, rivers and the ocean, where it is gobbled up by unsuspecting fish and other marine life.

Once this mercury gets into the marine food chain, it “bioaccumulates” in the larger predators. That’s why larger fish are generally riskier to eat than smaller ones. Those of us who eat too much mercury-laden fish can suffer from a range of health maladies including reproductive troubles and nervous system disorders.

Did the 'dilution is the solution' thing work with all the mercury?

Radioactive waste entering the same foodchain is not to be worried about why?

^^^ this thread is about Russia and their explosion of a nuclear powered missile engine.

Stop derailing it with Fukishima! Fukishima has its own thread.

Yes Russia has never had any issue with nuclear power before. Especially not Chernobyl.

Right, it’s not like they melted the same reactor design twice before finally blowing one up.

Yes, for those who didn’t already know, there were 2 partial meltdowns of RBMK reactors prior to Chernobyl Unit 4. Leningrad and Chernobyl Unit 1 both suffered partial melts/ruptures.
