I finished reading a book called The Calcium Lie by Dr. Robert Thompson and Kathleen Barns. The book is mainly about the patient experiences of Dr. Thompson with a light sprinkling of studies added.

The doctor came to theorize that a main health problem people are experiencing is a lack of trace minerals in our diet and an excess of calcium consumption. The trace mineral deficiency came about due to the refining of salt.

It used to be that people consumed large quantities of unrefined sea salt which is rich in minerals. Today we mainly consume refined salt devoid of trace minerals.

So the basic premise of the book is that the doctor asked patients to cut back on calcium rich dairy consumption. Patients then were asked to liberally consume unrefined sea salt and to sometimes take a mineral supplement.

There were several changes Dr. Thompson noticed with this advice to patients. One change is that sometimes patients that experienced chronic migraines saw their migraines go away and not return.

I just found out I'm lactose intolerant so I'm doing that.

My doctor is always scolding me I need more salt in my diet so I try to get enough.

1. Scalp stimulation - brush your hair, jump in the shower (hot water works best)
2. Lay down with your feet elevated
3. Drink Coffee
4. 1 Aspirin and 2 Tylenol (take it with that coffee)
5. Sleep
6. Sunglasses
7. Alternate hot and cold compresses on the temples & eyes. (stimulates blood flow)
8. Oxygen (if you have a cold, that steamy shower helps)

*If it's truly neurological, see a neurologist and start going through the list of medications until you find the one that works for you. There is a multitude of them.

I have thought about putting my feet up. Maybe I need to get a wedge pillow.

Happily I am in my "safe" period for a week or two. I see Doc on Wednesday so we will see if he can give me something prescriptive for the headaches.

I am currently in my safe time zone too so it's like run around and get **** done because I know I only have a bout 10 or 12 days at most before its headache time again.

But I have made the den and bedroom into my dream rooms so at least when i'm stuck there its not as bad as looking at ugly rooms. Hah.
