Going price for a Century assembled Polish Tantal is about $520 (www.jgsales.com).

You'll have to have it shipped (~$30) and pay the transfer fee (~$25), if you buy online, so I'd say $550 is a pretty good all-in price right now. Not great, but about the going rate.

AK-74 is an AK. They're as reliable as you can get if they're built right. CAI's stuff sometimes isn't, they're hit and miss. No way to tell without seeing it in person.

Probably a CAI. I've heard of keyholing issues but in older builds. It was an issue with the wrong barrels. 550 depends on your market. Thats about 50 more than online prices. Fair price, but not a deal.

Don't look past the Saiga 5.45's now, they are $379 and are just as easily converted as the other Saigas.

As reliable as any AK. Note there was/is an issue with some of the barrels for Tantals, a key-holing issue.

I emailed JG about their Polish AK-74's a few weeks ago and they have the newer, fixed version. CAI changed the code on the boxes of the updated 74's and JG confirmed the code.

Good buy, but consider stacking up ammo for it soon. As of now no-one in the US makes that round, it's all import. Hornady does sell ammo, but the casings are imported from Wolfe.

Consider youself buying an AR for half the price and use the remaining amount to buy the sealed wolfe tins. Keep 2 or 3 tins around at minimum and do not touch them. Import ammo is not allow in the US, the 5.45x39 will be the worst caliber to have.

If it wasn't for the annoying NYS AWB law making mags a pain to get, I'd get a ak74.

The only "real" AK's readily available in the US.

They just need a little work and love to get back to the way they were born.
