I watched episodes 1 and 2 last night. Pretty good. Based on a book by Phillip K. ****, one of my faves.

Oops, I forgot you can't say Phillip's last name, lol. It's like the short version of Richard. But it's his last name...

Bonus points: what stories by PKD have been turned into famous movies?!

Blade Runner to start with the easy one!

Blade Runner was a short story in one of the magazines back in the 70's...Analog maybe..."Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"?...

Cool

In "Man In The High Castle", the folk lived in an Alternate Universe where Japan and Germany had won WWII.

There was a best selling SF Novel (In Rick's story) that many folk discussed that presented a fictional (there) account of our World…

BUT in that World the "Other Side" winning was not viewed as a Morbid Abnormality…A Case of Predestinated Fate Derailed…

No, it simply was.

From what I gather, folks in the TV Series are trying hard to get back to "The Way Things Spozed To Be"…

If that's the story they want to tell then they should leave Phillip K Rick out of it.

After I started this thread -- I noticed in order to see it -- there's extra expense -- buying it from amazon -- not worth it --

I think it's something like $99/year, but I figure I save that much in shipping alone. Free two day shipping, free books, free movies...it's a handy thing to have if you shop there much at all.

If you don't have prime just wait until they all come out and do the free one month trial.

I wish you could buy a month of prime instead of having to pay for the whole year.

Yes, the cost is a lot, but it depends on how much and how often you order. I am far from any stores, so we order online quite often.

I saw the first episode online a few months ago and it was good, but not good enough for me to pay $99 for it when I've got a million other fascinating things to watch that are totally free. Maybe I'll pay for it some day, but not today. I'll wait to get it free.
