Probably visiting family "back home" for the holidays.

No one from America should enter Mexico, period. It is simply not safe even if you do speak spanish.

You keep telling yourself that.

Make sure and keep some extra $$$ on hand in case you need to deal with the police.

The cops in Mexico charge less, but it's still the same racket.
I got a parking ticket in Albuquerque for $120

I prefer a Mexican cop that will take a 20 and STFU.

Another examaple of Mexicans undercutting American wages.

Just wanted to add that Mexican cops are very polite

Very truly spoken.
I’d rather pay a cop a few bucks than deal with hundreds of dollars in fines in the US.

I don't understand why Americans go to Mexico when most of Mexico has come to us. Sorry for the family's loss!

They'd rather pay a crooked cop with links to the cartels $20 because anarchy is easier.

Quote:
What remained unclear was why the family was on such a dangerous stretch of highway after dark.

The highway on which they were shot is considered high risk. It runs through an area that's disputed by criminal groups, including the Gulf Cartel and Zetas.

El Diario reported that the attackers were drug traffickers with the Cártel del Noreste (the Northeast Cartel), a Zetas splinter group.

Tamaulipas has been a major conduit for drug shipments and has also been the scene of some of the worst massacres and fiercest fighting in Mexico's drug war. That war left 28,689 people dead in Mexico in 2017, according to government statistics — the highest number ever recorded, and likely was even more deadly.

But wait, there's more!

Quote:
... there are at least 36,000 more people in the country who have simply vanished amid the bloodshed. Known as desaparecidos, or "the disappeared," some are abducted, others are caught in the crossfires of the cartel-related violence that permeates Mexican society.

I worked with a 20+ man roofing crew they were all family and had a big hacienda in Mexico some place they would work till they had enough money to live comfortably till the next storm season hit us here.

We would roll up to the **** box they rented month to month and every piece of equipment they owned , every vehicle even if they had to tow it was gone. Like the story said they had family there

Drugs,

I know old ladies that go to Mexico every 3 months to buy their pharmaceuticals at a cheaper price... I tell them to just go to Walmart and save their time and gas for other things, but they don't listen.

I told them don't call me when you need a 'get out of jail free' card, they're on their own, I won't travel south of the border.

Play Stupid games win stupid prizes. JMHO and S/FI! It truly amazes me how some cultures , routinely breed both moral and physical cowardice with corruption so bad the Cartels and the government are often one in the same. Locust is the most appropriate term for the people not refugees since they voted for this system.
