Every once in awhile they shut my confuser down while we play password games. Makes me mad enough to want to take a hammer to it.

It's what us old cowboys call computers. Several times lately the thing has been shut down completely and demands I come up with a password, "for my protection". I spend quantities of time and it finally goes away, but I have no idea what I did so I can fix it next time.

Ah, well summer is about here, maybe a grandkid will spend the summer with us and keep the electronics working.

Why do you say Google thinks you have rented it? What type of computer do you have?

I've got a Chromebook 15. They apparently think it is theirs because they shut it down for reasons unknown to me and demand I produce a password that I have no knowledge of. I can't do anything with the confuser even shutting it off doesn't work. I have to go through the contact us to get another password game. But the next time they shut me down that password doesn't work. I have about 6 passwords written down and crossed out for gmail now. That is what they give me as my sign in, my gmail address. I almost don't use gmail except to check on stuff I've ordered.

Mine keeps demanding I allow windows to update ( learned my lesson when I did it once they then demanded I change my password). I now just turn off my aircard and don’t turn off the computer but turn off the WiFi.

They don’t own the computer but the own the way you get information for it.

You should consider getting someone local help to help you understand the box. They could set it up so you don't passwords very often and only 1 when it does. I suspect you are using temporary passwords that expire, thus requiring a new one.

Start over with the box. Back up anything you want is always a good thing. Pay attenuation to what you put in "A" does not always equal "a" in computers.

Here they claim you can disable it.

"...you can disable it here:

chrome://settings/lockScreen

That screen also allows you to use a PIN instead if you prefer as a compromise."

You didnít buy the software that runs your computer. You licensed it.

Write down the password where you can find it.

Just remember that the basis of all computation are these simple functions:
Shift (left or right)
Invert
Add.
That is all. But done incredibly fast.

Thanks ya all I know you are trying to help, but my OP was mostly just mostly frustration. I'll just keep putting up with the problem till the family confuser geeks show up this summer.
