Just got the paper census. Am tempted to answer number in household and send back. What did others do?

Mine has been laying on the coffee table for about 2 weeks. Haven't given it any thought since I have gotten it.

I did the online.

2 of us, names and ages, race. I put me as Scottish roots as I do have them. I put him as "mixed, Creole". Haven't heard anything since.

LOL...common sense for the win...
I'd all but forgotten about the census, I did mine on line took about 10 minutes (max) and then pressed on. I swear I've never seen so many people get so jacked up or bent out of shape over something as minor as answering a few census questions...

I am not jacked up. I don't mind answering number in household. As to relation, race etc just curious. Snark is not necessary.

I don't think he was referring to you. There was a thread on it a couple of months ago about people getting all worked up about answering the questions.

I did mine on-line. Answered everything they asked and took about 10 min. Taking a census is in the Constitution so I'm ok with answering

I guess that is what was rattling around in the back of my mind. I think the purpose was enumeration only. Is there still a long vs short form or are they all the same?

Number of people only. My race and the race of my family is not needed for anything the census was intended for.

I simply answered the question. I wrote in Appalachian American for my race for kicks and grins.

That's what I always do.

"But...but...but... it's in the CONSTITUTION!" No, it isn't. An enumeration is in the Constitution, solely for the purpose of apportioning Representatives. Neither does the Constitution mention a data fishing expedition, nor do those questions have anything to do with meting out Congressional representation.

Based on the number of people lawfully living at your address. Their race and ethnicity and income have nothing to do with Congressional representation.

Really? Where? Because I couldn't find it. I DID find an enumeration, but nowhere did I find anything about several pages of invasive questions.

Do you hold the same opinion when the government exceeds its constitutional bounds and raison d'Ítre in other ways? Do you agree with their spending on purposes not allowed by the Constitution? How about gun control or stifling speech or dispersing assemblies? Or maybe quartering troops in people's houses, or rifling through their personal effects on a whim?

If I get, as I did last time, a form asking are any of us seniors, disabled and do we need services DAMNED sure I am going to say yes. That means local agencies get more funding so we get services we need.

Did not want to kick a hornets nest. I find it contradictory in the enth degree we are supposed to be blind as to color, race, creed and gender but are asked and tracked by those very traits. Done in school systems, too.

Completed it online the same day received. Told them I was Neanderthal, some basis in that. Anyway itís none of their business.
Since then Iíve relieved two more in the mail, went straight into the round file.
Expecting a masked man to show up next. He could be perceived as a threat.

LOL...are you bent out of shape?
Or are you trying to bend this thread out of shape? The topic is the census, not asking me how I feel about every evil (real or imagined) that you think the government has foisted off on the American public. Just the census...and it's not a big deal...
