Default Unintended Consequences by John Ross

Just finished reading this book. It is long 800+ pages but a fantastic read. Read the Amazon reviews on this book. This book is not in print any longer and I think I would like to pass it on to someone here who would appreciate it at the cost I paid. If interested let me know.

It's an excellent read, well worth the time needed.

Unfortunately he never carried through with his promised sequel. It has been at least 10-12 years since I saw his promise posted on-line, saying that he was working on it. Alas, all for nought.

Reading it in 1999, I was impressed with how it enumerated a sequence of historic events and trends in such a way that made an engaging story. It also made clear how those events related to modern grievances.

I keep "politics" and "fascism" subfolders in which to archive articles about notable events, but it's a chore to search through them for something specific. There is no story, just a mish-mash of references, and I am not competent to write them into one.

I also keep a short list of grievances, and tagging files by including the relevant grievance in their filename helps, but not a lot.

Someone should write a similar book in UC's vein that brings it up to date.

Gosh, I have a copy. So many books and so little time. I keep meaning to read it but the size is daunting... I'll make time... I promise.

Of everybody else here LC, I would have picked you first as one who had read it already.
