if you were going to buy a tank.
I am partial to this, even thought technically it's artillery with a fixed cannon. I understand the 155 howitzer is the biggest canon evern mounted.

M60A3.
It's what I served on, so I know it.
They're old enough to be found surplus, so parts are out there to be had.
The 105mm gun is plenty enough for most threats even today.
With the add-on reactive armor it's a pretty safe vehicle for the crew.
I absolutely LOVE the sound of that air cooled Continental V-12 turbo-diesel.

I think we had a 175 self propelled, tho the 155 would shoot farther. Then there was Atomic Anne a 280.

I think I read about a new Leopard II with a new Rheinmetall 140mm, that might be a improvement over the 120 mm.

T34/85. Fix with a Swiss Army Knife, a monkey wrench or a hammer. Big enough for the whole family, bullet-proof enough to really irritate the Lefties round here.

If I was going to have to ride around in the thing, it would be an M1 v whatever, the latest Abrams edition out there. I'd also want a combat-proven crew that would make me sit in the corner and not let me touch anything.

As an old M1A1 Heavy crew member, given unlimited supply and support, I would tank that (see what I did there?)

But realistically, I have given this thought, I would honestly go with the non tank BTR70 due to the simplicity, somewhat armored, amphibious capacity and storage capacity. It would defeat most of whats to be expected in a SHTF situation.

PS There was an M60 in the walking dead and it didnt do them much good....****tards

For me, I'd have to take an M18 Hellcat. Open top, but that engine's gotta breathe somehow at 55MPH

I'll take a Konigstiger. It may not get very far, it may break down every 3 feet, and may only get 1/10 of a mile to the gallon... but it'll look awesome!

I would buy the Brazilian Osorio MBT. It was specifically designed to operate in areas of limited infrastructure. It was also designed for ease of maintenance by lower tech nations which were the planned targets for export.

`

I'd go with an M1a1. Before I went in the army the MSM told me how awful it was & in the run up to desert storm how we'd get crushed by superior soviet tech. Then reality happened & my buddies in their M1's kicked ass up & down, back & forth with their Abrams tanks. I'm a believer.

You know the "tank" you selected isn't even a tank right? It's self propelled artillery/gun. Just because it has a big gun & tracks, doesn't make it a tank. Also, no the 155mm is not the biggest gun ever mounted on a tracked vehicle.

The kind that thinks like we do, a rare catch in some places.

If you are including all tank-like vehicles; then the Ripsaw EV-2 would be my choice.

If you mean military only; then my choice would be the Stridsvagn 103.
