Default Hi-cap 45 poll

Advertise Here

So I'm taking a poll:

1. Glock 21sf with TFO sights

2. Springfield XD .45 with/without manual safety and TFO sights

3. FNP .45 with/without manual safety and night sights

These are the three .45 high cap I am considering. Please vote and give some comments.

Oh and PLEASE: I have a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 with a flawless 2000 rounds named 'Selene' that's upgraded and is my "baby." -- so vote/comment on the choices and also leave out the "get a 9mm." (I have 2)

This hi-cap .45 would be my "world has gone to S" gun and I choose to have more rounds than a 1911.

thanks all!

I like the XD and FN products, so the choice was difficult. Both are excellent weapons, are accurate and reliable. Both "feel" better than the Glock, so much so, I'm inclined to dump my Glock one of these days to pick up either one.
However of the choices, I can get the XD slightly cheaper so it won that battle.

I have a Glock 21, it's a pig. It's failed several times including broken parts.
It's on it's 3rd full set of internals and is finally 'reliable', bad ammo not counting.

Personally, you are accustomed to the 1911 in the "Selene" form, I'd be looking at a Para-Ord high capacity 1911 and keep the "feel" and operations similar.
A custom Caspian frame and slide built simply is another option if you're 1911 inclined.

In the end, all will work, it comes down to which feels better to you.

A Glock 21 is better than the other 2 options because it has fewer things to go wrong with it. I don't need nor want a grip safety like is on the XD. I don't need nor want a flip or button safety either. Even one additional feature is just one more reason for a gun to break, fail to shoot or fail to work at all. No thanks. The simple reliability of the Glock 21 explains why they have a 70% share of the police market.

My 2 .45 Hi-caps are both 10 shot. Glock 30, which will take the 21 mags, so 13. Also my Sig P220 Combat with extended single stack 10 round mag. If you are limited to the 3 listed and money isnt an issue I'd give the FN a go, otherwise the G21. Get the FN with earth tone and threaded barrel.

I use a Glock 21sf at work and shoot at least once a month with it and it has preformed flawlessly. It is easy to clean and takes a good beating from me. you can't go wrong with it.

If I could vote for two I would vote for either the the Glock 21 or the XD. I have had both and really enjoyed them. I would have to give a slight edge to the Glock only because I shoot them better than I do Springfields. (Personal preference, of course)

FN's are excellent guns! Just not really in my budget. I have fired a couple and have enjoyed them as well, but I still don't have the accuracy with them that I have had with other firearms.Granted, I have maybe put about only 300 rounds through three different FN's, but I am sure anything you practice with will be accurate enough for what you are looking for.

YMMV

The Glock 21 is good weapon. I like the 13+1 capacity, and it's accuracy is sweet. As mentioned above, the G30 can use the same magazines and holster as well. It's a great combination to have.

I use a G30 for CC and the 21 sleeps close by at night

Good Luck

The FNP is in the same price range as the other two:

That's not a bad price at all.

Have a Glock 21 3rd gen and an XD .45 Compact.

Love 'em both. Both hold 13 rounds (extended mag on the XD) and have had zero malfunctions.

No bad choice there.

The Glock will have the most after-market support and accessories.

As long as I'm opining, I'd get a Glock 30 rather than a 21. THey are just as accurate (I believe slightly more accurate) are more concealable and can use the hi-cap G21 mags. What could be bad.
