Hello Hilltopper, I think its very important to stay basic but all encompassing in your preparations so that you would be able to take care of your family at the most basic level. The skill to keep a prolific garden going with the ability (and supplies) to preserve and store your own fruits and vegetables is GREAT but equally important is ample water storage in both drums and assorted medium and smaller water bottles, medical supplies, firearms for hunting and protection, sanitation hacks and supplies, fuel storage (to get out of dodge), sturdy but portable shelter and basic grain storage such as wheat (20 to 30 year shelf life), salt (for simple bread) and honey or sugar (for simple sweet bread) to keep you and your family alive while the garden grows (if at home) or game is being hunted (while getting out of dodge).
I have ideas for all of these topics that I feel were inspired answers to prayer and Id love to share them with anyone who will listen but I may not be the most qualified person to start such a thread as I am always learning from others.
