I've got a few places for 500-1000yrds here in the buckeye area,
And the BLM has even been nice enough to set up a huge sign allowing open range to shooters as long as targets are picked up when finished
I live NE of the Payson area, for certain values of "in the area." (Payson's 45 minutes away.)
There's probably a few areas where you could do long range shooting in the tonto NF, but they'd require bushwhacking, with or without an ATV, to get to. 500 yards for sure, 1000 yards would require a bit of searching to find something that didn't cross a road.
Winds might add an extra element of challenge, tho.
Hunters fairly routinely take elk at 300-400 yards up here.
We’ve been in Yuma since 1997, I am WAY past being ready to leave here. The wife has put in her retirement paperwork, so we’ve at least got a “countdown” running. Our intent is to move to Tucson.
I'm in the Phoenix area. Checking in and checking out who's in the AZ with me.
