Nonsense. The only issues I've heard of are with the Berkey black filters. There are other filter brands that work fine with the Berkey system, nor have I seen anyone report issues with Berkey's white filters. It's still a nice and useful system if you have filters that work. As long as the OP didn't spend hundred on a lifetime supply of black filters, then he didn't waste his money.

I've kept up with all the threads too, and we were fortunate to have bought ours before the trouble with the black filters. We have used ours for @ 3 years daily and love it. We bought extra filters back then, but are looking at other filters that will work with the unit.

Congrat's on your new Berkey, just make sure to test it so if their is a problem you can deal with it.

Both I and another prepper friend have the Big Berkey Systems with the black filters and flouride filters and use them everyday without any problems. Your money was well spent and I'm confident that you'll be very happy with your new Berkey!

Monkey see, monkey do. I want one. All this silver money is burning a hole in my pocket.

Any reason you went with the big and not any of the others like the light, or the crown, Imperial, etc......?

Congrats, we use ours every day and we probably drink twice as much water as we did before. Makes the water taste delicious!

Is the one where you claim its for livestock use only? Or the one where you have a friend outa state buy it for you, and then ship it your way? Those in the Sacramento area have the option of just buyin one from a store in Roseville.

There were lots of complaints about the end caps coming off,I believe. I've had my BB for at least three years, using two black filters the whole time, and I've had no issues, which is good, because I got another pair when I bought the unit. I also have several of the white ceramic filters stashed.
I can't confirm that the issue has been fully resolved, but i hope so.
I think you should consider getting one, they've been the industry standard for decades, long used by missionary and diplomatic personal working in 3rd world hell-holes, and I believe our forum patriarch,Kev, is a big fan as well.
