Guys, new info on masks! "The global body (WHO) said new information showed they could provide "a barrier for potentially infectious droplets". https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc...ealth-52945210

The WHO is like the kid who shows up with his homework from two months ago.

Utah is also spiking. We did a soft re-open on the 16th. As of yesterday, 17% of all our cases happened in the last 7 days. Today we had our highest number ever since the start with 439 cases. 1/3 of those from a meat packing plant a ways north of us. Governor is keeping us at "yellow" for one more week and will re-evaluate at that time (I guess).

That said, our zip code is still in single digits on most days with a few spikes here and there. Husband and I are still being cautious regardless. Bottom line is, we don't want to get anyone else sick if we are silent carriers and on the flip side, neither one of us enjoy being sick if we do end up positive with symptoms.

We are still getting more than 20 thousand new cases a day and almost a thousand deaths.

This is far from over.

Hopefully we get some stats on injuries, not just mortality.

Gunshows are starting to open up, but I'm not going to one wearing a mask (regardless of the risk) I'll just wait.

It could be a lot worse.

You could be living in a country that is having that big hit to GDP combined with a still out-of-control virus infecting and killing scores of people - which is the situation the vast majority of the world's nations are now having to deal with.

Lucky for you, you live in one of the few nations on earth which no longer has to to worry about the later.

It looks like the people who were spoon feeding you hysteria for the last couple months about the virus don't give a **** anymore. They're all out there standing side by side with dozens of protesters. They were never serious about the social distancing or masks at all.

Or they knew it was never that dangerous to healthy adults in the first place. They just lied about it to wreck the economy and blame Trump. Now they have a new tool to do it with and they do not need Wuhan Virus anymore.

There are 3 new active cases in the county to the west of us. There hadn't been any for about 10 days. Now with all this protesting crap and people from all over coming into the area there are new cases.

Still dying and getting the virus in Central lower Alabama. BIL and SIL got it said it was bad..They ran Fever 100.5 for 2.5 weeks(with tylenol). Said they lost lots of weight, also that you need food that needs no prep. BIL said any activity wore you out and then sleep 2-3 hours.

Yep, but they got it, and, more to the point, it's got them...

Another poster with no taste for the truth!

For better or for worse (still pending) This forum was significantly AHEAD of the media, gov etc. (Look at the OP date of this thread.)

And: as I have said then and since:
This has been perfect proof of the value of a preparedness lifestyle.
I have BENEFITED from.my mitigation actions whether or not they were needed. In projects done and money saved both.

As I said when the gov said "hug a Chinese, don't wear a mask, and go out to eat in a Chinese restaurant" and when they closed reasturants, said to wear a mask, and socially distance:

I don't care what they say, I'm gonna do me.

I'm just glad the virus is no longer in the news 24/7 anymore.
Hospitals are learning how to deal with covid patients, and hopefully better prepared for any secondary wave.

Unfortunately there is a new shiny object taking up all the news channels.
Rioting, looting, kneeling.

My upcoming solo backpacking trip sounds better and better...

Lucky for you, you live in one of the few nations on earth which no longer has to to worry about the later.

First, I don't ascribe to luck what results from planning. For example, I don't live in South Auckland or Northland so I don't have to put up with their pathologies as neighbors. Similar reasoning to not living in Angola or Burkina Faso.

Second, I am living in a country which has no land borders, very big moats all round, and a handful of international airports. If we can't prevent the entry of substantial numbers of infectees in that situation then we are even dumber than a socialist voter who believes money from the Govt is free, no strings attached, nothing can go wrong, and all will be well.

Third, we are a country of 5 million. That's not even a big city by global standards. The corollary is that no-one else will bail us out of this financial sinkhole that we have dug, and keep digging under Robbernomics.

I'll be getting a seven day vacation from the hospital soon, so I'm planning a six day backpacking trip in the Sespe Wilderness.
Lots of water, lots of pine, and outstanding scenery.

Time to back away from pharmacy pressures, farming issues, and folks in general.
A little bit of fishing.
A little bit of solitude.
Heaven.
