Anyone know where I can find a list of public shelters and locations? I looked on my county sites and nothing. You would think that would be a priority for Oklahoman's buy apparently not.

Why would it be a priority for the state to have public shelters

I remember seeing tornado shelter signs in the Mall at Tulsa.
Lots of people have their own shelter in or near their house.

I didn't say for them to have shelters but to provide a map and list of locations. They make you register them so they definitely have the information. If they are state owned then they should definitely provide the information because guess what, we paid for them, but a list of privately owned public shelters would be great also.

If I build one in my yard for my family, what's makes you think you're entitled to know where it is or that there's room for you?

Not trying to be a smart ass but if you're concerned about a shelter, build your own.

I assume if you are in a school or hospital, government building, and other large complexes like malls, there would be a shelter with signs leading to it.

But since you have only a couple minutes between warning and the tornado, unless the shelter is a short walk away from your location, you don't want to get in a car and drive to a shelter. Just hunker down in the best spot you can find. Away from windows, under a strong table or in a closet under a staircase, or in a strong bathtub, or in a drainage ditch or pipe.. .
