NO.
i always do a bill of sale though.
the next logical step is to require a background check for anything that could possibly hurt or kill people. cars, knives, gasoline, powder, etc etc . .

Where is the poll? Is it a question we're supposed to answer, or is it a poll on a Web site somewhere?

I don't think there should be background checks ever, for any gun purchase. If you're free to walk the streets and you are at least 18 years old, that to me indicates you should be able to not only own a gun, but Constitutional carry a gun (open or concealed your choice). If you are too dangerous to be allowed to own a gun, you're also too dangerous to be allowed to own a kitchen knife, a hammer or really to function in society at all. I don't think FFL licenses should exist or be necessary. I think any individual or business should be able to buy and sell guns just like you buy and sell knives or screwdrivers.

That said, when I sell guns, I strictly adhere to state law, and do a bill of sale.

I like jknova's concept- if they can walk the streets, then they should be able to purchase, own, and carry a gun. If they are so screwed up that they cannot be trusted with one- they don't belong out in society.

It's kind of a hard call for me. My little brother is paranoid schizophrenic and has a severely addictive personality. When he takes his medication like he's supposed to and isn't doing drugs he's a perfectly normal, intelligent, responsible young man who could easily pass any test or answer any question to see if he can safely use a gun. However, if he misses a dose of his medication for any reason, succumbs to temptation, or even just has a severe episode he becomes a seriously dangerous liability full of delusions, paranoia, and psychotic hallucinations. He should not be allowed to own a gun, but I can't say he deserves to be locked up for life since he's my brother and totally sane MOST of the time. I don't usually support ANY gun regulations but this instance is one that I can understand both sides of. I don't have an good answer for a it, some people really shouldn't be allowed guns but neither do the deserve to be punished, it isn't necessarily their fault.

that is a double edge blade, first it would eventually lead to the total registration of every firearm, in the US, down to the trapdoor Springfield gran pap used in the war of northern aggression, if you are for it, your name is on another list somewhere, as in registration, if your not for it, your name is on another list somewhere as a possible terrorist .... damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Nope.

Bill of sale each time, and I require a purchase permit or concealed carry permit. Both parties leave will all info from both sides of the transaction.

My info from sale gets stapled to original purchase info. Closed loop.

No, I'll take the consequences of too much freedom compared to the "safety" of too little.

Shouldn't ever need one, and it boils my blood every time somebody asks for a bill of sale for a private transaction.

I believe that I would be an Idiot if I posted for folks to hit a poll and didn't put a link to the poll in the post.

If I did it, it would have to be a joke.
