Talking CONFESSION TIME...Who has more GOOD boots than GOOD shoes?

Advertise Here

MY wife was on her yearly really mess with me while faking she is actually cleaning and so she wanted me to empty out my closet floor so she could vacuum(yeah right)

Then came the "Look at that."

Big deal,...
I had 7 pair of good quality boots sitting there. 1- pair of jungles, 2 - pair sneakers(one of which is used for water shoes) and 1 pair of good shoes.

She didn't count or remember the 3 other pairs of winter boots in the front closet or my ice boots(the ones with the screws in the bottoms)

Now I ask you.. as fellow outdoors people, That really isn't an unreasonable number is it?

Hope to show responses to the wife so she can see she is all wrong about my necessity for such numbers of footwear for the outdoors.

7 pair of quality boots sounds excessive, but your total number of footwear doesn't seem out of the norm at all. I have:

3x trail runners

2x gym shoes

2x clean/nice boots for work

1x winter boots

2x beater work boots

1x church shoes

Nope. I got a good a pair of hikers, two pairs of welly boots (one insulated = the cats meows) Winter Sorels, pair jungle boots, brand new black assault boots (I got for a screaming deal that was an impulse buy.) Two sets of work boots and a pair of cowboy boots I bought at Stampede years back. Only drama will be if I ever have to BO and its raining. Now what would be the appropriate footwear for the apocalypse be?

Funny how when me and my wife start cleaning out the cupboards, garage etc... That it's always her "stuff" to keep and my "sh*t" to go.

Godspeed

Well, you are a little light. You need 2 pair of jungles (one for backup), and at least 2 pair of general use construction type boots (one for backup), three good pair of dress boots (a Texan thing), and besides, if the sneakers are clean, they should be at least considered as good shoes. And then maybe a pair of black shoes for bow tie events.

I haven't owned a pair of sneakers in 10 years. It got cheaper to just buy water shoes. I haven't owned a pair of non steel toe boots in 15 when a dog I had at the time ate my snakeskin dress boots. Haven't needed a pair of dress boots since then.

Huh. I thought I was pretty good on boots but it looks like some of you are way ahead of me.
I definitely have more boots than shoes. Except for dressing a little nicer a couple times a year, my daily attire is boots and jeans. So there isn't much need of other shoes.
I have right around five or six pairs of NIB boots. Mostly the hiking type that I wear every day but also a couple new pair of military boots. I do wear one pair of those occasionally to keep them somewhat broken in.
I also keep a couple/few pairs of older boots that still have a lot of useful life but are no longer as socially presentable (according to my wife). I use these for heavier duty muck and mud occasions.
I have a great pair of heavy duty rubber boots for the times I've got to be out in the rain all day.
Other than boots I've got two pairs of dress shoes (black and brown), a few pairs of casual shoes (bought by my wife) that I pretty much never wear and one pair of sneakers that I think I have worn once.
For a prepper/survivalist minded person, footwear is important. Along with socks. If SHTF you can't just go to the store and buy new shoes. Things like underwear I can live without (but the truth is I'm pretty heavy on that, too), but I don't want to be without shoes!

I am totally ashamed to admit that my arsenal of foot wear is completely non-existent. Currently my only shoes are a used pair of ugly flat soled Adidas walking shoes from a friends throwaways. No arch support and not very stable on wet roads.

I have let my supply dwindle down to nothing. Somewhere I do have a pair of cowboy boots that are elephant. I bought them over 30 years ago for a funeral. Since then that is about all they have been used for. I have many, many good years ahead of me. But these would be a good choice to be buried in. Otherwise I will just go out barefooted.

I used to wear hiking boots. The style that are similar to hiking shoes but stiffer with more aggressive soles. Unfortunately every time I find a pair that are worth wearing they are no longer available when the need to replace them comes around.

I have 8 or 9 pairs of boots between cowboy and various kinds of work and hiking boots. Only 4 pairs of shoes and they are all Minnetonka moccasins of various styles and colors.

I don't find the need for any kind of shoe or boot that isn't good quality and is comfortable. You only get one pair of feet so you better take care of them.

I wear size 14, sometimes there is a drought upon the land for anything of that size. So I stock up in times of plenty and toss those whose services are no longer required.

Yeah i have a lot of boots and shoes

Boots in the sub-tropics? No thanks. I have two pairs of boots - my slip on steel toe work boots and knee high gum boots. Everything else is either runners or trail shoes.
