Just wanted to show off a few pics to the newbies.
I am starting to get a little bored with all the newbie what if etc...threads.
For some us here, this is not our first rodeo. I figure I have at least a years worth of food & supplies.

Damn! Where do you buy charcoal? I havent yet found any good sales on it. My worry is all the dog and cat food i have stored in bags. Im hearing from people here on the boards that it goes rancid. Canned dog food would be ok for a while, but they say the dry kibble goes bad faster.
Great pics though. Very inspirational. I feel the need to go shopping just looking at them!

I bought 400 lbs last month at Home Depot. They had double 20 lb packs for $10.98, and with my military ID got 10% off, so that put it at just under $10 per 40 lbs.
Right now WalMart has double 16.6 lb packs (33lbs) for $7.50 a pack. I picked up 99 lbs. today. My wife saw it in the car and asked "Don't you have enough charcoal yet ?"
I said "I guess I do now." "But it was on sale ! "

Have you lost any food yet, I would assume you rotate your food as you use it, I was just curious if you have found it difficult to work in your stocks into your meal planning for your family. I have stocked quite a bit of dried beans and grains and it seems like a lot of work working them in, beans not so much but I have gotten pretty creative with the grains.

We haven't lost anything yet, that room stays between 40 - 65 degrees. We rotate as necessary, and all of the grains and beans are packed in Mylar with O2 absorbers. I have 100 lbs of pintos, 100 lbs of split peas, 100 lbs of lentils, 50 lbs. of kidney, 50 lbs. of black, and 50 lbs. of white beans.
I think I should get more kidney beans, but the wife is still asking me if I'm going to eat all those beans. I've told her, when she gets hungry enough, she'll eat them too. :D:

With that much volume, you better HOPE the SHTF. :D:

As I'm still pretty new at provision stocking, it occurs to me that waste must come into play eventually. At any given point, the S could HTF. Thus, ideally we should have at least several years worth of everything from beans and rice to canned peaches and tuna on hand at any given point. It seems I need to stock more than I can possible rotate thru the average day to day dietary needs of my family.
