Great, another excuse to raise gas prices.

Probably a false flag. Iran was meeting with Japan at the time of the attack, and the attack was on a Japanese tanker. Makes no sense that Iran would do this, although they will certainly be blamed for it.

I read a prepper book once where some very similar happened in the same place which lead to hyper-inflation of oil prices and collapse of America.

Why would Iran conduct a terror attack while hosting the Japanese PM ?

It is a sad day when Iran has more credibility than the US news media, but that seems to be where we are.

Default Two Ships Torpedoed in Gulf of Oman

This isn't good and I wonder what it will lead to. Though the article doesn't say it, the news reported that it was a torpedo attack. Other articles say magnetic mines..

The Iranians are at the root of all of this.
The attacks probably originated in Yemen at the direction of the Iranians
Regardless, bad news
The kind of news that could be the presage of war.

Didn't Iran deploy mines in the Persan gulf in the late 70's or early 80's and we sent sweepers in to gather them all up?

I think at this point I'll wait for more news to come out

If it was torpedo's, they'd have to have come from somewhere, if it was speed boats or the like, we'll have satellite images

If it was from a sub, then another country is the culprit and we probably already know who has subs in the area from our subs

If it was mines, well Iran is most likely to blame and it would be bad timing for them

It's early to be speculating without more info

I'm sure TPTB at the Pentagon have a lot more intel than we can imagine, they'll conjure up a good story for the media to disseminate

Or it was someone wanting the world to think Iran did it.

Forget about the scary "MIC" and evil war profiteers. The price of oil just went up and all those theocracies in the Middle East just made a bundle.

True enough
But even if Irag did not have a hand in it, it would akin to Ted Bundy being convicted of a crime he did not commit.

Looks like the natives are restless in the old neighborhood.
The sooner we distance ourselves from their oil, the better.

Cui bono?

It would be suicide for Iran to attack ships with torpedoes. Israel or Saudi Arabia gain the most if the US annihilates Iran.

True dat. It would give Iran no advantage to do that. There may be internal factions in Iran behind it, the country is pretty well split on many issues. It wouldn't take much to sabotage a tanker at night in open water.

As a FF, I'd think they'd come up with something a lot bigger to have a real effect.

Just saying that bearing the cause of the damage was a bomb inside the ship there are only two likely solutions.

The bomb was smuggled on board by one of the crew members. The security at the filling port was lax and someone how someone got onboard. OR

NINJAS... that is some type of frogman attack (unlikely)

It also happened suspiciously at the same time there was a peace summit in Iran

that said, again this reaks of false flag and perhaps an attempt to draw US allies into a war against Iran.

Or Saudi Arabia seeking to raise oil prices.

I could be very wrong though.

It seems very unlikely Iran was the cause of damage to these or past ships.

Contrarily the US is trying to get European support against Iran, and has labled Iranian state organs terrorist, and is putting presure on Saudi Arabia and Turkey not to get US war equipment unless it follows washingtons instructions - all while stoking regional war and isolation of Iran.

Lookin unbiased at this position it would scream a CIA operation. I could be wrong and I will wait for information to the contrarty.
